Imphal, 17 October 2017 ( Evening News ) : Directorate of Ayush, Lamphelpat and State Ayush Society Manipur organised the 2nd Ayurveda day at Indian Medical Association Hall, Lamphelpat today. The event was held on the theme Pain Management Through Ayurveda. Speaking on the occasion, Health Minister, L. Jayantakumar maintained that the right to live provided by the constitution of India, is the most important one. He said honest and sincere efforts should be made by all concerned to provide the right to life to future generations. The minister also stressed the need to carry out researches on the traditional methods of treatment practised by the prior generations. Taking part in the event, Health & Family Welfare Director, Dr. K. Rajo asserted that the Ayurvedic medicines have no side effects. He also stressed the relevance of Ayurvedic treatment. Many stalls displaying Ayurvedic medicines were also opened at the event.

Imphal, 15 October 2017 ( Evening News ) : Indian Team star goalkeeper at the FIFA U-17 World Cup Dheeraj Moirangthem returned home today to a rousing reception at Imphal airport. The goalkeeper who caught football fans' attention was garlanded by his fans as he came out of the airport. Dheeraj expressed happiness at the warm welcome and stated that it will encourage him to work harder. Replying to queries by media regarding the approach made by international clubs, Dheeraj said nothing has been confirmed yet. The U-17 team along with U-19 team will leave India on October 19 to play the qualifying match for Asian Cup in Saudi Arabia.

Imphal, 15 October 2017 ( Evening News ) : Chief Minister Nongthombam Biren today listened to the complaints and grievances of the people on the 6th Meeyamgi Numit held at Chief Minister’s Secretariat. Hundreds of people turned up to share their grievances with the Chief Minister. Biren gave priority to differently-abled persons, widows and old-aged people. He personally attended to around 200 complaints and met nearly one thousand people from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm. Unlike previous Meeyamgi Numit, the Directorate of Information and Public Relations (DIPR) organised public screening of films and documentaries highlighting the achievements and new developments in the State including the achievements in the 100 days of the government. Health Department officials were deputed at CM’s Secretariat for the day to attend to the people, who seek medical assistance, reimbursement and health care in Government medical hospitals. Officials of Manipur State Co-operative Bank Ltd, Education (S), Youth Affairs and Sports, Minority and Other Backward Classes, Social Welfare and Police Departments and Manipur State Illness Assistance Fund were also deputed at the Chief Minister’s Secretariat to attend to the grievances of people. Taking advantage of the day, representatives of Film Forum Manipur submitted a memorandum to the chief minister urging him to implement Manipur State Cine Policy to develop Manipuri Cinema. Chairman of Film Forum Manipur, S. Mangoljao expressed happiness that the chief minister has assured them of looking into their demands. Mangoljao said although there is a director of Manipur Film Institute, classes have not begun causing inconveniences to the students. A woman identified as Chungkham Chaobi from Thongju collapsed and was treated by the Medical Team. A diabetic and kidney patient she had come to seek the chief minister’s help for her medical treatment outside the state. The chief minister directed the officials to admit her to RIMS or JNIMS.

Imphal, 14 October 2017 ( Evening News ) : Kuki Channel was launched today as part of the Impact TV's Impact Indigene Channel at Khongsai Veng Enjakhup Hall in Laipham Khunou. The television program for Kuki community named Kuki Channel will be telecast on ‘Impact Indigene channel’.  ADGP Training P. Doungel, representatives of Kuki Innpi and several distinguished persons of the community were present at the launch. Introducing the ‘Impact Indigene Channel’, Editor-in-Chief of Impact TV News, Yumnam Rupachandra said, the ‘Impact Indigene Channel’ aimed at promoting love, harmony and unity among the various communities living together since time immemorial to be able to lead the race to progress. He said ‘Impact Indigene Channel’ is not only for one particular community but it is a platform to bring  various cultures, festivals and lifestyles of different communities together.

Imphal, 14 October 2017 ( Evening News ) : 7 Manipuri footballers who were part of the Indian team in FIFA Under-17 Boys World Cup returned home today to a rousing welcome at the Imphal International Airport. Although India lost to USA, Colombia and Ghana in the Group-A matches, it will go down in the history as India debuted in the Fifa Under-17 Boys World Cup for the first time. Football fans across the globe were thrilled with their performances. It may be recalled that Dheeraj Singh Moirangthem (Goal Keeper), Boris Thangjam (Defender), Amarjit Kiyam (Mid Fielder-Captain), Jeakson Thounaojam (Mid Fielder), Md Shah Jahan (Mid Fielder), Nongdamba Naorem (Mid Fielder), Suresh Wangjam (Mid Fielder) and Ningthoinganba Meitei (Mid Fielder) were part of the Indian squad.

Imphal, 10 October 2017 ( Evening News ) : One day Regional Consultation Programme on “Child Rights -Gaps & Challenges in North Eastern States” was held today at the Classic Grande Chingmeirong. The programme was jointly organised by Manipur Commission for Protection of Child Rights, MCPCR, National Commission for Protection of Child Rights, NCPCR and Social Welfare Department, Government of Manipur. Acting Chief Justice of the High Court of Manipur N. Kotiswar said there are many developments in providing and protecting Child rights as the Supreme Court has taken many steps to protect the children. He said institutes engaged in protection of Child Rights must work towards protecting the innocence of children. Chief justice Kotiswar said said the stakeholders must protect the children under POCSO Act, Juvenile Justice Act, Child Labour Act and deal with the children in a friendly manner.

Imphal, 01 October 2017 ( Evening News ) : Manipur joins the world in observing International Day of Older Persons today. Social Welfare Department held an event to mark the day at Khunthokhanbi Shanglen Thangmeiband. Speaking on the occasion, Social Welfare and Cooperation Minister, Nemcha Kipgen assured that she will urge the Government to open hospital specially meant for old-aged people. She said it is unfortunate that there are cases of ill treatment of senior citizens in the state. Nemcha said the almighty will punish those who ill treat the elderly people. She also reminded that everyone will all age someday. The minister urged the NGOs and stakeholders to help the older persons in distress and open doors for them. She highlighted the major contributions of the older persons in the society. Social Welfare department presented gifts as a token of appreciation to older persons present at the event. The International Day of Older Persons is observed on October 1 each year. On December 14, 1990 the United Nations General Assembly voted to establish October 1 as the International Day of Older Persons.

Imphal, 01 October 2017 ( Evening News ) : Reacting to the 48 hour ultimatum by United Naga Council (UNC), spokesperson of the Manipur Govt, Thongam Biswajit has stated that there will be no hindrances to the dialogue and that one should not be disturbed by the ultimatum. He was speaking at the Swachhata Hi Seva campaign organised by Thongju BJP Mandal at Heijigang Supermarket Complex. The works minister maintained that the Govt plans to introduce steps that will be acceptable to all communities of the state. It may be recalled that the United Naga Council (UNC) had demanded the Government of Manipur and the Government of India their “clear-cut” positions on the creation of 7 new districts within 48 hours. Speaking on the cleanliness drive today, Biswajit maintained that a collective responsibility is needed to keep the surroundings neat and clean. He said participation of a few individuals in the campaign will not realise the dream of Prime Minister Narendra Modi of a Swatchhta Bharat.

Imphal, 30 September 2017 ( Evening News ) : Editor in chief, Impact news, Yumnam Rupachandra  has been awarded Thiyam Meghachandra Journalist Award. The award was presented to him today on the occasion of the 121st birth anniversary of Hijam Irabot organised by Irabot Celebration Committee at Iboyaima Shumang Lila Shanglen, Palace Compound. The award carries a citation and Rs 20 thousand. 7 other persons were also presented awards in recognition of their contribution in different fields. People from various communities took part in the event and offered floral tribute to the leader. Several schools, cultural troupes, and organisations took part in the March Past. State Secretary, CPI, Manipur State Council Dr Moirangthem Nara said Lamyanba Irabot struggled for the protection of the integrity of the state.

Imphal, 30 September 2017 ( Evening News ) : The 121st birth anniversary of Hijam Irabot is  celebrated in various parts of the state. People paid rich tribute to the leader who fought for the freedom of Manipur and equality among people. Parliamentary Secretary L. Sushindro today announced that a park will be built in memory of Hijam Irabot will construct near the Manipur Legislative Assembly at Chingmeirong. Sushindro was speaking at the 121st Birth Anniversary of Lamyamba Irabot organised by Manipur Proletariat Peoples Democratic Union, Socialist Students Union of Manipur and Struggle Committee Manipur at Keishampat Lairembi Community Hall. He also said being truthful is one of the virtues of man and this virtue will bridge the gap between the people of hills and valley. He  urged everyone to contribute something to bring a change in the society. 6 journalists were also awarded in recognition of their contribution in the field at the event.
