Imphal, 12 December 2017 ( Evening News ) : Manipur today paid rich tributes to those brave Manipuri women who opposed the indiscriminate export of rice from Manipur by businessman with the support of the British govt. The State function was held at Nupee Lal memorial complex, today. Chief Minister Nongthombam Biren and Agriculturem inister V. Hangkhanlian led the people in offering tributes to those brave women who fought gallantly against the monopolistic policies of the colonial rule in 1904 and 1939. Speaking at the observance Chief Minister Biren appealed to the women of the state to join the efforts of the govt to bring peace and harmony in the state. He asserted that people should remember those courageous women who marked their significance in the history of Manipur on the occasion of Nupi Lal Day. He expressed the hope that women of Manipur will continue to take active roles and responsibilities as in the past. The chief minister also mentioned that the entire north eastern region is in turmoil at present due to the self centric and communal ideologies of some sections of the society. He appealed to the women to stand united and strive for integrity and harmony between the people of the hills and valley and bring peace in the state.
Nongthongbam Biren also asserted that the present situation does not call for blame game to gain political mileage. He called for unity among the people and declared that his government is always in the forefront to work for the interests of the people. Ministers, MLAs, top civil and police officials, and several distinguished persons were present at the observance. Artists of Nupee Lal Memorial Association and Nupee lal and Khongjom War memorial society performed a play on Nupi Lal on the occasion.
Imphal, 11 December 2017 ( Evening News ): Lack of adequate Infrastructure at Women's ITI centre at Takyel which was set up exclusively for providing vocational trainings to women has created apprehensions among the students of the institute that it might hamper the outcome of their trainings at the institute. Students at the ITI centre complained that the Center which is supposed to provide various trainings like Dress Designing, Fabric Making and different other trainings lacks in adequate infrastructure and that proper trainings are not imparted to them.There are only 6 computers for 20 students at the Center for its Computer Operator Programming Assistant course. While the sewing machines procured in 1993 for the Center's Dress making laboratory are non functional and at present there are only 17 sewing machines to cater to the present batch of 32 student. The Center also lacks in creams and other materials required for make-up training which is also a Vocational training course provided at the Center. Students expressed that though theory classes are imparted, lack of adequate infrastructure has greatly affected the practical aspects of their trainings. They expressed discontenment that despite approaching the Joint Director of the ITI many times to look into the matter, no steps are taken up till date.
Imphal, 11 December 2017 ( Evening News ) : The total Manipur shut down called by All Manipur DPC completed re - recruitment candidate Of police Constable Male, 2016 K.Jayenta Singh Batch has been withdrawn indefinitely with immediate effect. President of the Batch, A. Binoy clarified that the total shut down was called due to lack of awareness on the part of the association regarding the high court's ruling and the state government's stand on the matter and appealed for apology from the public for causing inconveniences. Addressing media persons at IGP Admn. Dr. S Ibocha 's Office Chamber at Police HQ today, Binoy further appealed the concerned department of the Government to consider the future of the 8 individuals who were arrested in connection with the call made for total shut-down. He said, the total shut down is revoked until further notice from the court.
Imphal, 10 December 2017 ( Evening News ) : Chief Minister has stated that more police check posts will be constructed at different places of the state mainly at the border areas like Behang,Kwatha,Jiri and ukhrul.He made the statement while meeting Hill leaders at his residence today.He said such initiative are necessary in order to curb illegal migrants and drug peddlers in the state.The chief minister further stated that Manipur State Human Right Commission will soon be created and appealed to the people that to respect fellow human being.
Chief minister also expressed that the bandh called by police constable for failing to declare the police recruitment result is very unfortunate.He stated that the case is still pending at the high court and solution to the issue will take some time however, he stated that the state will not remain silent to the bandh as it will create lots of inconveniences to the people of the state.He also warn the protesters that the state might imposed lifetime ban to any govt jobs on individuals involved in unnecessary general strike
Imphal, 09 December 2017 ( Evening News ) : Union Minister for Road, Transport, Highways, Shipping and Water Resources Nitin Gadkari inaugurated a two day national conference on “New Technology for Road Construction” attended by Works Ministers of all States at Lucknow yesterday. Minister of PWD, Manipur Thongam Biswajit also attended the conference. Speaking at the inaugural function, the Union Minister said Manipur’s connectivity including waterways will be improved using new technologies for road constructions at the earliest.The Union Minister said construction and development of new roads will not only improve the State’s economy but at the same time bring the villages closer .He said officials from Union Ministries will be sent to Manipur to identify the State’s sinking zones and use new technologies to put Manipur among the developed States of the country.Nitin Gadkari also instructed Manipur Works Minister Thongam Biswajit to identify suitable sites for setting up of cement concrete plants for the National Highways in Manipur. Chief engineer of PWD, Manipur , Temba and ADB Director Y. Joykumar from the State also attended the opening day of the conference.
Imphal, 08 December 2017 ( Evening News ) : Chief Minister Nongthombam Biren reassured that the framework agreement between Government of Manipur and NSCN (IM) will not affect the territorial integrity of Manipur. On the other hand, Biren disclosed that he assured Union Home Minister of possible help as a neighbouring state in resolving the Naga issue, however urged the Home Minister that the territorial integrity and unity of Manipur can not be compromised in an attempt to reach a conclusion to the issue. Speaking to media persons at the sidelines of the issuance of Cheque under Manipur State illness Assistance Fund at Chief Minister’s Secretariat, Babupara, Chief Minister Nongthombam Biren said Union Home Minister Rajnath asked Chief Minister of Assam, Arunachal including him of the condition and concern of the people of the states because of the framework agreement during a meeting with the Union Minister on framework agreement in Kolkatta. Chief Minister of Assam and Arunachal also maintained that they cannot agree to compromising the territorial integrity of the neighbouring states because of the framework agreement , however assured to provide help to bring about a conclusion. Biren further related that he maintained that the Manipur Government will not work against the interest of the people of the state. On the other hand, Responding to media query on the demand of the Congress Party to disclose the details of the framework agreement, Biren stated that they are just carrying out their duty as an opposition party.

Imphal, 07 December 2017 ( Evening News ) : CAF & PD Minister Karam Shyam has left Imphal for Guwahati, today to attend the meeting called in connection with the proposed fossil fuels extraction from the Northeastern States by 2030. Concerned Ministers of all the north eastern states of India will take part in the meeting which will be led by Union Minister Petroleum & natural Gas, Dharmendra Pradhan. Keeping up with the call made by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to cycle every Thursday, Minister Karam Shyam Cycled all his way from his official residence at Sanjenthong to the airport, today. Addressing media persons at the airport, Karam Shyam promised not to betray his people’s trust and said he would always be in the forefront to support any developmental activities for the society. He said, the meeting which is scheduled to be held tomorrow will focus on extraction of fossil fuels which are still untouched in the North eastern states and discuss ways to enhance the economy of these states. He asserted that there would be no harm in extracting appropriate amount of fossil fuels. He asserted that it would give employment opportunities for the people. He opined that even if we don’t extract the fuel at the core of the earth, it will eventually be drained away when other states extract it.
Imphal, 02 December 2017 ( Evening News ) : The Congress has asked the United Naga Council, UNC to declare its stand on the Framework Agreement. Speaking to media persons at Congress Bhawan, today, Spokesperson of MPCC spokesperson and Thangmeiband MLA Khumukcham Joykishan said the Congress party wants to know how the UNC will react when the UNC, NSCN-IM and BJP are described as the three sides of a triangle. Joykishan termed the boycott of the former Deputy Chief Minister, Gaikhangam in Naga inhabited areas for espousing peaceful co-existence between the people of the Hills and Valley and integrity of Manipur as civil uncultured. He demanded the UNC to make its stand on the issue of territorial Integrity of Manipur clear.
Joykishan also questioned the statement made by a spokesperson of the organisation at the recently held NPF meeting that the 4 NPF MLAs are the four wheels of the govt. He wanted to know if the NPF is guiding the direction of the state government. Joykisan said all the parties in the BJP led government need to consider the NPF’s claim that the party's demands and desires are already incorporated in its Election Manifesto since the main theme of NPF’s Election Manifesto is integration of Naga inhabited areas. He called for cooperation from all political and non political parties of the state to protect its territorial integrity keeping in mind that even the President of India has assured the people of solution to the ongoing peace talks.
