Imphal, 04 Sep 2020( Evening News ) : Unidentified armed miscreants have looted One Crore, 15 Lakh rupees withdrawn from SBI main branch in Churachandpur District for depositing in SBI ATMs today around 10:30 AM. Impact News sources said, the miscreants fired at the Writer safeguard company staff, who are responsible for depositing money at various ATM booths in the town.  Writer safeguard company staff cum security, 35 year old, Arambam Ranjan, Son of Late Arambam Kumar originally from Langdum Mayai Leikai and currently residing at Khuga Tampak Meitei Leikai was shot on his belly. He succumbed to his injuries at Shija hospital this afternoon. He was shot while the Writer Safeguard Company staff were keeping money withdrawn from the bank inside a bolero jeep parked opposite the bank. The armed miscreants looted one crore and 15 lakh rupees and sped away on a Motorbike. Police has registered a Case. There is no clue about the loot gang till the time of filing this report.

Imphal, 03 Sep 2020( Evening News ) : United Committee Manipur (UCM) President Sunil Karam has said that there is no objection to the finalisation of the Framework Agreement signed between NSCN-IM and the Indian Government, however the settlement should be confined within the Nagaland State. He was speaking on the sidelines of Tarpon Heishoi ceremony performed at the sacred shrine at Kekrupat, organised by UCM today. Sunil Karam said the Union Home Minister assured Chief Minister of Manipur and COCOMI members on November 25 last year,  that stockholders concerned especially the people of Manipur will be consulted before the final settlement of the Indo-Naga Framework Agreement. He demanded the Home Minister to keep his promise and disclosed the content of the agreement which is expected to be finalised this month.The UCM President called upon people of the state to stand against any divide and rule policies and against any threats to the territorial integrity of Manipur. It maybe mentioned that a press release from the Prime Minister's Office had stated that the over 23 years long pending Indo-Naga Framework Agreement may get finalised by this September.

As in the previous years, United Committee Manipur (UCM) organised Tarpon Heisoi ceremony at the sacred shrine at Kekrupat today.  Speaking on the occasion, UCM President Sunil Karam called upon people of the state to always revere the courage and bravery of those forefathers who had laid down their lives for the motherland. He lamented that unlike the previous years, Tarpon offerings will be made only on the first and last day of the half month long traditional ceremony owing to the prevailing COVID-19 Pandemic this year.  Sunil Karam said today's tarpon offerings were made especially for the 18 brave-hearts who laid down their lives for the territorial integrity of Manipur on June 18, 2001 Uprising.  Family members of the martyrs and many women leaders took part in the ceremony.

Imphal, 03 Sep 2020( Evening News ) : Central Bureau of Investigation, CBI in a letter on September 1, to the Secretary of  Manipur Public Service Commission (MPSC) has requested to share the necessary steps already taken and has also suggested various measures to hold the Manipur Civil Service Combined Competitive (Main) Exam, 2016 afresh in a fair and transparent manner. In the letter, the CBI had also suggested certain steps and measures based on the observations made by the High Court of Manipur in the relevant Paras under the heading “Appreciation of Lapses & irregularities” of its common Judgement & Order of October 18, 2019, which include laying down of proper procedures by the MPSC for evaluation and tabulation of answer books or sheets in compliance of sub-rule 18 of Rule 26-B of the MPSC (Procedure & Conduct of Business) Rules, 2011. CBI has laid down 7 guidelines for the examination including instruction to MPSC for CCTV coverage during the Main Examination covering the entire Examination rooms/centres, Strong rooms where the Questions papers or answer scripts are kept, during evaluation of answer scripts by the examiners, scrutiny of the answer scripts, codification and interview etc..and for proper preservation of the CCTV footages.

Imphal, 01 Sep 2020 ( Evening News ) : NPP Legislator cum Deputy Chief Minister, Yumnam Joykumar has declared that Thangminlien Kipgen is a self acclaimed President of National People’s Party, NPP Manipur State Unit who has been already expelled from the Party and that he has no connection whatsoever with NPP. He was responding to media query regarding bifurcation within NPP on the sidelines of 74th Birth Anniversary celebration of NPP Founder P.A Sangma today. The event was held at the office of NPP Manipur State Unit in Naoremthong. Yumnam Joykumar reiterated that former President of NPP Manipur State Unit-Thangminlien Kipgen was expelled from NPP by National President Conrad K Sangma on August 24 for acting against the Party’s Constitution. He said Thangminlien Kipgen claims to the Party President till date, however he is no longer associated with NPP anymore.

Attending the celebration, Interim President of NPP Manipur State Unit cum Tribal & Affairs Minister, N. Kayisii said NPP Candidates will definitely contest in the upcoming Bi-Elections. However, it is yet to be decided whether NPP candidates will contest from every constituencies or not. He said the decision on the same will taken upon the arrival of the Party National President. Floral tributes were paid to the portrait of P. A Sangma by 4 NPP Legislators of the BJP led State Government and other party leaders at the event. Corporator of Imphal Municipal Corporation Ward no. 27 N. Herojit who have left Congress to join the NPP was accorded a warm welcome on the occasion.

Imphal, 31 Aug 2020 ( Evening News ) : Chief Minister Nongthombam Biren virtually inaugurated Level-1 Trauma Centre and ICU Twin OT Complex of RIMS from Chief Minister’s Secretariat in Babupara today. RIMS Director Professor A. Santa, MS Ch. Arunkumar and other RIMS staff joined the event from RIMS Lecture Theatre Complex via video link. Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister N.Biren said Manipur does not lack in good doctors but still many patients go outside the state for treatment due to lack of good infrastructure and equipments in the state. He expressed pride that with the relentless efforts of the RIMS authority, many modern infrastructure are being installed under various projects at the Hospital to provide better treatment facilities. He asserted that the newly opened Trauma Centre will lessen incidence of deaths from road mishaps. N.Biren said, the Government acknowledges the plights facing medical staff in the state and it is committed to help them, yet it is unable to provide required equipments on time due to financial constraints. He assured of all out efforts to meet their needs. Talking about the current COVID-19 situation in the state, the Chief Minister appealed to abide by guidelines issued by the Government and Health Experts to combat the pandemic.

Imphal, 25 Aug 2020 ( Evening News ) : Manipuri University Students Union (MUSU) has also extended support to the movement of Manipuri Diasporas in Assam for the enlistment of Manipuri language as an associate official language of the Assam Government.  Speaking to media today, MUSU President M.  Boby reminded that the Assam Government recognised Manipuris settled in Assam as their indigenous inhabitants in 1956 and the Manipuri language is even taught in schools in areas inhabited by Manipuris, but since the language has not been enlisted as an associate official language, Manipuri Diasporas in Assam cannot write various Competitive exams in Manipuri language.  He said MUSU had even started poster campaign supporting the movement few days ago.  Boby appealed to the state government to look into the matter and take necessary steps at the earliest.

Imphal, 24 Aug 2020 ( Evening News) : Ex Wangkhei MLA Okram Henry has warned to file a Defamation law suit against Additional SP Thounaojam Brinda for posting unethical posts on Facebook. In a video released by the EX MLA today, O. Henry said his drug trafficking case is still ongoing in the court and he has not been proven guilty yet. He asked Th. Brinda if she has any genuine and exact proofs to support her social media post which claims that he is a Drug Kingpin. He lambasted Th. Brinda whether she sees herself as a Spokesperson of the Congress party or as a Government employee. O. Henry condemned her for making defamatory allegations against him and his family on social media.  O. Henry also urged the State Government to take befitted legal actions against Th. Brinda.

Imphal, 14th May 2020 (Evening News) : Villagers of Yaripok Ningthounai, Yambem and Changamdabi in Andro Constituency have alleged that their peace and tranquility have been affected due to personal altercation between Ex minister Th Shyamkumar and Imphal East District Police. Speaking to media at Yairipok Yambem today, a resident of Yambem Luxmi Bazar, Lourembam Basanta said many unwanted incidents have occurred recently because of the Ex minister and some individuals pursuing personal gains. He alleged that police yesterday fired Mock Bombs and Tear Gas cells in the residential areas on the pretext of carrying out crackdown on lockdown violators. He claimed that Police fired tear gas shells at the Ex Minister's gate as some people gathered there from 7PM till midnight yesterday. Basanta appealed not to let such incident occur again as it causes mental agony to children. Speaking to media, a resident of Changamdabi, Ayub Kori said yesterday’s incident created fear psychosis among the muslims inhabitants who were carrying out their Ramadan rituals at that time.

Andro Constituency residents have urged Chief Minister Nongthombam Biren to take necessary measures to contain the political upheavals in the constituency over the upcoming bi-election. One resident, Sagolshem Chaoren from Andro Makha Leikai today claimed that he and two others were abducted yesterday afternoon at around 2 by some unknown miscreants. The other two people are 34 year old, Ningthoujam Okendro from Andro Awang Leikai and Chingakham Shyamkishore from Andro Sanapat. Chaoren said they were blind folded, assaulted and driven around in a vehicle and they were finally released at one Dhiren @ Bobo's residence. He claimed that Ex Minister Th Shyamkumar's brother Rabi was in the house. Andro Police reportedly rescued them and took them to Yairipok CHC for first aid.

Imphal, 07 Oct 2019 ( Evening News) : Chief Minister Nongthombam Biren has assured to urge Union Home Minister Amit Shah to add a special protective clause for Manipur while implementing Citizenship Amendment Bill when the Union Minister visits the state to grace the upcoming Sangai Festival 2019 as the Chief Guest. He stated the same to media in an exclusive press meet held at Chief Minister's Secretariat today. Responding to Impact News Query about the recent declaration of granting a special provision for the states of Mizoram, Nagaland and Arunachal Pradesh in relation to CAB, Chief Minister Biren expressed firm belief that the special provision will be granted not only for the three States but for all the North East States. While, responding to Impact News Query on the plights facing MSPDCL due to non-payment of electricity bills by various Government Departments, Chief Minister N. Biren asserted that the issue will be tabled in the Cabinet to ensure that the pending electricity bills are paid at least in instalments at the earliest.

Speaking to media, Chief Minister Biren asserted that the Government has taken steps to make Shirui and Sangai Festivals plastic free. He stated that Union Tourism Minister Prahlad Singh Patel will inaugurate the Shirui Festival on October 16 and added that an American rock band will perform during the festival. Biren assured that outsiders attending the Shirui Lily festival will be provided bus service from Imphal International Airport till Ukhrul. Chief Minister Biren also disclosed like last year's Japanese Sumo wrestling demonstration, Thailand’s Muai Thai will be demonstrated in the upcoming Sangai festival.  He appealed to organisations of the state not to impose any bandhs or blockades during the festival which aims to promote State tourism to boost income.  The Chief Minister said, every issues can be resolved amicably through dialogues.

Financial assistance continues to pour in for the upcoming Sangai and Shirui festivals.  Public Health Engineering Department Contractors Association has presented 1 lakh rupees financial assistance to the Tourism Department. Chief Minister Nongthombam Biren received the amount for the department today. Speaking on the occasion Chief Minister Biren appreciated Public Health Engineering Department Contractors Association for its continual support for various events in the state. He hoped that others will offer assistance too.

Imphal, 25 May 2019 ( Evening News ) : A student of Bachelor of Vocational Course (B.VoC) was found hanging at Room No. 26 of Koubru Boys Hostel No. 2 of Manipur University in Canchipur, Imphal West today. The deceased is identified as 22 year old, K. Lunminlal Kipgen, son of Paokhongmang Kipgen from L.Songphel Village under Kangpokpi District Saikul Sub Division. It may be mentioned that Imphal Police admitted Kipgen to Regional Institute of Medical Sciences, RIMS after he was found unconscious at Samu Makhong in the wee hours of May 23. Singjamei Police has initiated a probe into the incident and the body has been taken to RIMS Morgue for investigation.
