NAGAMAPAL BOMB BLAST: I/W POLICE ARRESTS 6 INCLUDING NIPCO PREZ

Imphal, 29 Oct 2018 ( Evening News ) : Imphal West Police has arrested 6 individuals including the President of National Identity Protection Committee (NIPCO) along with arms in connection with Nagamapal Bomb Blast of October 20 which killed a CRPF Jawan and injured another. Arrested individuals included UNLF Cadre- Milan and alleged former PLA Cadre-Khaidem Sana, 42 years, son of Kh Babu from Nongren Maning Leikai, presently residing at Nagamapal Lamabam Leikai. As per police reports, Khaidem Sana and Milan came riding a two wheeler and Milan threw the bomb on CRPF Truck causing the Nagamapal bomb blast of October 20 around 6 PM. Acting on a tip off, a team of Commando Imphal West raided National Identity Protection Committee (NIPCO) Office near Keishampat Yumjao Lairembi Community hall in connection with the bomb explosion at around 10.30 this morning. During the raid, the team led by Additional SP (Operations) Imphal West, Krishnatombi and SDPO Joyraj including Officer In-Charge of City Police and Imphal West Police Station seized many incriminating items including computer hard disc of the office. NIPCO President Oinam Premjit, 42 years, son of late Oinam Ibomcha and his wife Oinam ongbi Pinky were arrested from their resident at Yumnam Leikai in Bishnupur District last night. Three 9 mm pistols and many live rounds buried in a pit were recovered from them. Imphal West Police has also arrested Publicity Secretary of NIPCO-Shah-uddin Cheshaba, UNLF Cadre Laishram Rakesh alias Thoungamba alias Angangcha alias Bishwanath Khuman alias London Meitei, 34 years, son of L. Ibopishak from Ngaikhong Maning Leikai.

On the other hand, National Identity Protection Council, NIPCO, in a press release, clarified that arrest of NIPCO President O. Premjit and Secretary Shah-uddin Cheshaba by police for their alleged involvement in the Nagamapal Bomb blast has no relation whatsoever with any undertakings of NIPCO. It informed that NIPCO convened an emergency Executive Council meeting today and appointed NIPCO Vice-President-Th Manihar as the Acting President and the Secretary General as the Secretary.
