Bodybuilders felicitated by Patsoi Apunba
IMPHAL: Bodybuilders Laitonjam Rishikanta Singh, Thanjam Roshan and boxer Konthoujam Bishworjit Singh were today felicitated by Patsoi Apunba. In the recently concluded Eastern India Body Building Championship 2015, Laitonjam Rishikanta Singh won gold in the 70 kg category while Thangjam Roshan stood 5th in the 55 kg category. Konthoujam Bishworjit won gold in 81 kg category in the National Level Open North East Game Championship Boxing event held in Aruncahal Pradesh last month. The reception was organised by the Patsoi Apunba of Patsoi Assembly Constituency at Patsoi Unikhong Bazar, Community Hall. Laitonjam Rishikanta Singh, Thangjam Roshan and Konthoujam Bishworjit Singh were presented with gifts at the felicitation.
Shija to provide free Vitamin A supplements to children between 6 months and 5 years
IMPHAL: Shija Vitamin A Project will provide free Vitamin A supplements and Albendazole to all children between 6 months and 5 years. It is a collaborative effort of Shija Healthcare & Research Institute and Vitamin Angels, a US based NGO, working with the sole objective of giving Vitamin A supplements to all children in developing countries. A simple cost effective dose of vitamin A every six months can prevent childhood blindness and reduce the mortality among children under five years of age by 24%. Vitamin A and Albendazole will be available on all days at Shija Hospitals & Research Institute, HealthCity Langol from 10 am to 4 pm.
TRAU Kwakeithel enters semi finals of 58th CC Meet
IMPHAL: Last year's finalist TRAU Kwakeithel revenged their defeat in the final by beating the defending champion SSB West Bengal 4-2 in the quarter final to enter the semi final of the 58th CC Meet today at Mapal Kangjeibubg. TRAU's A Herojit scored the first goal of the match in the 8th minute. The second goal of the first half was scored by N Susil. SSB's captain H Govinda scored their first goal in the 68th minute. SSB's second goal was also scored by the captain soon after Naoton netted the third goal for TRAU. TRAU will meet MPSC in the semi final. TRUGPU and ARC Shillong will meet in the first semi final tomorrow.
Gaikhangam reiterates no power can disintegrate Manipur
IMPHAL: Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam has reiterated that no force in the world can disintegrate Manipur if the people love each other and live as one. Speaking at the 181st death anniversary of Maharaja Gambhir Singh at the Memorial of Maharaja Gambhir Singh at Langthabal, Gaikhangam said all should inculcate the sense of patriotism and sacrifice as the brave forefathers did to protect the freedom and sovereignty. Reminding greed among the nobles led to the fall of the Manipur kingdom, Gaikhangam emphasised that only harmony and unity among the people can foil any sinister design of breaking-up Manipur. Langthabal MLA Karam Shyam said the day is observed to commemorate the patriots of the land and ministers, MLAs and bureaucrats must have joined the observance.
Th Chaoba doubtful of completion of Imphal-Jiri road by March
IMPHAL: A team of members of BJP Manipur Pradesh led by president Thounaojam Chaoba yesterday visited the Imphal-Jiribam road to see the progress of the construction of the road. The team also met the CO of Headquarters 83 Road Construction Company, BRTF, RK Garg at Noney. The CO gave a detailed report on the progress of the road to the team. The BJP team visited the bridges on the Barak and Makru rivers. Later speaking to the media Th Chaoba expressed his doubt at the BRO's assurance that the Imphal-Jiribam road will be completed by March. He said the team saw no adequate machinery and workers in the construction of the road. Chaoba said he will meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi and concerned Union Minister on 15th of this month and urge them for early completion of the work. During the visit, the team was given a warm welcome at Phaitol village in Tousem sub division of Tamenglong district and Gularthon Bazar in Jiribam.
