Chaoba: Sadar Hills will be upgraded to full-fledged district if BJP comes to power
IMPHAL: BJP Manipur Pradesh President Thounaojam Chaoba today asserted that Sadar Hills will be upgraded to full-fledged district if BJP comes to power in the state. Speaking at one-day political awareness and mass enrolment programme held at CC Hall, Hengbung in Senapati district, Th Chaoba blamed Congress govt which has ruled 41 years in the state of neglecting the demand to convert Sadar Hills to a district. Although state govt claimed that law and order has improved the condition in hill areas still remained unchanged. Rebuking Chief Minister for visiting hill areas only during some festivals, Th Chaoba urged instead to look in the development of the hills. Chaoba appealed to vote for BJP in the upcoming ADC elections if people want overall developments.
Union Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan arrives on two-day visit in Imphal
IMPHAL: Union Minister of Science and Technology and Earth Sciences Dr Harsh Vardhan arrived on a two-day visit in Imphal today. Speaking exclusively to Impact News, the Union Minister Harsh Vardhan said he is in the state to inspect the Central projects undertaken by the ministry. Harsh Vardhan said he will also look at the new projects which can be taken up in Manipur. he Union Minister said as part of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s special focus on North East states he will look into the needs of Manipur in regards to Science and Technology. At 11:25 am, the Union Minister was given a warm welcome at the airport by a team including Science and Technology Parliamentary Secretary Amin Shah and BJP Manipur Pradesh President Th Chaoba. After his arrival, the Union Minister headed for Raj Bhavan. Dr Harsh Vardhan inaugurated the Vigyan Sadan Building at FEEDS/KVK Campus in Hengbung, Senapati. Later in the evening at around 5:30, the Union Minister will be felicitated at the BJP Manipur Pradesh office at Nityaipat Chuthek. He will also interact with the media persons of the state.
IED bomb, mortar shells discovered near Nityaipat Chuthek
IMPHAL: An IED and mortar shells were discovered yesterday in the heart of Imphal where a large number of police personnel remain vigil round the clock. Sources said the IED and mortar shells were found on the road at Nityaipat Chuthek under City police station this morning around 7. A team of Manipur police bomb squad safely removed them. Meanwhile, BJP Manipur Pradesh president Th Chaoba strongly reacted against the discovery of a bomb in the heart of Imphal city saying that the law and order system of the state is a total failure. Speaking to media at its head office, Th Chaoba said the state is being run by a government who cannot handle law and order or use funds properly. He also said he would urge the centre to impose president rule in the state as the security and the intelligence was unable to do anything even when the bomb was planted in front of the BJP office, which is just opposite the Governor Bunglow.
Th Chaoba appeals to Tengnoupal people to call off Imphal-Moreh road bandh
IMPHAL: A team of BJP Manipur Pradesh workers led by party President Thounaojam Chaoba today met the bandh supporters of Tengnoupal at Sita Lamkhai and appealed to them to withdraw their agitation. Thounaojam Chaoba assured the people that he will personally report the difficulties faced by people of Tengnoupal on NH102 to the Centre and bring a long-lasting solution to the problem. National Council member, Yangkholet Haokip, general secretaries and members of morchas took part in the visit. The team met the protestors at Sita Lamkhai, where they blocked the roads and prevented people's movement. However, the protestors said they will continue their agitation until and unless their demands are met. Thounaojam Chaoba further informed the people that he will discuss the matter with central leaders including the Prime Minister and press them to meet the demands. Chaoba appealed to the people of people to withdraw the bandh on NH102 considering not only the problems faced by the people of the state but also by traders on Myanmar border.
Gaikhangam accuses BJP Manipur Pradesh of inviting troubles in the state
IMPHAL: Deputy chief minister Gaikhangam has accused the BJP Manipur president Thounaojam Chaoba of inviting law and order problems in the state by urging the centre to impose president's rule in Manipur. Reacting to what BJP Manipur President Chaoba said yesterday that BJP Manipur will urge the centre to impose President's Rule in Manipur, the deputy chief minister said BJP Manipur President's statement is like asking for Centre's help to create more law and order problems in the state. Gaikhangam was responding to queries by media persons at Central Agricultural University today. He was attending a workshop at the university. He said the law ad order situation in Manipur is good when compared to other states of the country. He maintained that when there was a huge tension between two communities in Gujarat when Narendra Modi was the chief minister, president's rule was not imposed. In response to the allegation on financial misappropriation Gaikhangam said more than 60 percent of centre funds have been utilised by the state. He also said by the end of March 80 to 90 per cent of the funds will be utilised.
Imphal-Moreh road bandh: BJP blames Congress
IMPHAL: BJP Manipur Pradesh spokesperson RK Shivachandra held the Congress govt responsible for the excessive acts committed by 24 Assam Rifles on Imphal-Moreh road. Speaking to media persons at the BJP office at Nityapat Chuthek, Shivachandra said the party supports the agitation by people of Tengnoupal against the Assam Rifles and condemn the action of AR personnel. He alleged that the people cannot move freely on the said road as the personnel create unnecessary troubles for the people and this will have serious impact on Look East Policy and Act East Policy. He also said the party will soon send a report on the problem to home ministry and defence ministry.
Lilong incident: BJP Manipur Pradesh demands judicial inquiry
IMPHAL: BJP Manipur Pradesh has demanded judicial inquiry into Lilong incident that led to the death of a minor boy. Speaking to media persons at the party’s Head Office in Nityaipat Chuthek, the party's president Th Chaoba said Manipur government has lost its moral right to rule the state.He further said he is disappointed at the state government's silence when bandhs are called and pretension to take action only when the issue gets bigger. Stating that the Lilong issue cannot be taken lightly, he demanded the government to institute a judicial inquiry into the incident to bring justice to the victim. Earlier a team of BJP workers led by Irom Mangiton and Oinam Malesh, President of BJP Yuva Morcha, visited Lilong to take stock of the situation. The team not only met the injured victims at Public Hospital but also gave financial assistance to them. Later, the team met family members of deceased minor boy, Iliyaz Khan at their house at Lilong Chingkham Maning. President of BJP Yuva Morcha Oinam Malesh said he will personally report the incident to union Home Minister Rajnath Singh and Kiren Rijiju in New Delhi. He assured the family that the truth will be found out and the guilty punished.
BJP Manipur warns of strict actions against workers conducting personal works in party’s name
IMPHAL: As Modi wave has heightened BJP’s movement in Manipur, the chase for leadership emerges within the party. BJP State unit has appealed all members of the party who aspires to contest in 2017 State Election not to play preferential politics and weakens the party’s position. In a meeting with media persons today at the Head Office of BJP Manipur Pradesh at Nityaipat Chuthek, President in-charge Irom Mangiton said it’s great to see number of people joining BJP and coming forward to work for the party. He, however, denounced conducting of meetings and enrollment drives without seeking permission from BJP State unit. Suspecting of conducting enrolment drives under Mission 2015 by some party workers, Irom Mangiton appeals the Mandals to refrain from doing so in their own interest.Speaking to media persons, General Secretary of BJP State Unit L Basanta Sharma express shock and disbelief in finding non-party workers carrying out personal works in the name of BJP. He said one should enrol first as party worker to work for the party. Member of the Core Committee, which is a decision-making body of BJP State Unit, Professor Saikhom Tiken said there is no doubt the party has strengthen its position, but if anyone is found carrying out personal works in the name of the party, Disciplinary Committee will take up strict actions.
Rajnath Singh assures of all possible assistance for Manipur
NEW DELHI: Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh said the BJP led central govt will focus on North East region for development giving top priority towards Manipur. Rajnath Singh said this today in a meeting with the leaders of BJP Manipur Pradesh at his official Bungalow in 38 Ashoka Road in New Delhi. President of BJP Manipur Pradesh Thounaojam Chaoba, State General Secretary M Ashnikumar and BJP National Councillor Yanglet Haokip attended the meeting that lasted about 30 minutes. Leaders of BJP Manipur Pradesh highlighted many important state issues in the meeting that began at 11:15 in the morning. The Union Home Minister seriously listened to the points highlighted by State delegates and assured that he will look into the matter and will expedite on priority in the interest of the State. He assured the State delegates that his ministry will extend all possible assistance for Manipur. Rajnath Singh also said he will visit Manipur once the Assembly election for New Delhi gets over.
State govt is under utilising central funds, alleges Th Chaoba
IMPHAL: BJP Manipur Pradesh President Thounaojam Chaoba yesterday lashed out at the state Congress government for not utilising the central funds. As observed across the country, National Youth Day was observed at the BJP Manipur Pradesh office organised by the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha. Accusing the Ibobi-led government, Thounaojam Chaoba said the state government is unable to use the central funds which the Central government is sending on time. To solve the the problem, Union Ministers will visit the state and inspect the projects. He said as the current year has been announced as the Membership Year, to help in making the reject successful two members have been appointed as the State level Membership Drive Publicity & Propaganda and State Level Membership Drive Social Media. As part of today’s function, a complaint box was also installed at the BJP Manipur Pradesh office. Party President Thounaojam Chaoba said people of the state can send problems and issues. Th. Chaoba said people of Manipur can send their complaint to the mailbox. As part of the function, around 30 members of Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha donated blood at JNIMS, Porompat.
