IMPHAL: Reacting to the discovery of human skeletal remains in now defunct Tombisana High School complex, veteran politician Okram Joy has demanded probe by a high level independent body instead of the CBI. Speaking to media persons at his house in Kakwa, O Joy said the recovery of skeletal remains from a place security forces once occupied should not be taken lightly. He also stressed the need for Union and State government to investigate the matter seriously. Expressing disbelief at state government handing over the case to CBI, O Joy demanded probe by a high level independent body. O Joy said number of missing persons has increased dramatically since the imposition of AFSPA in 1980 in the state. He also stated that missing complaints were mostly filed after security forces made the arrest and there are also number of unreported missing cases.  O Joy said considering all these, the recovery of human skeletal at the heart of Imphal city where security forces were stationed is a serious issue. He also said he understands the feeling of the people who suspected the security forces. 

IMPHAL: Manipur Pradesh Trinamool Congress Committee alleged that local residents of Keirou constituency are not getting PDS items regularly. Addressing media persons at the office of Manipur Pradesh Trinamool Congress Committee, vice president of the party MI Khan said the locals of Keirou constituency are facing lot of hardships due to bad road condition, lack of proper school. Above that, people are not getting their PDS items regularly. MI Khan said in a year people of Keirou constituency are getting PDS items for 7 months only. He also alleged that quantity of PDS items provided to the locals of Keirou constituency are also less compared to other constituencies.  He further appealed to FCS authority and local MLA to look into the matter and do needful for the locals of Keirou constituency. 

IMPHAL: BJP Manipur Pradesh President Thounaojam Chaoba yesterday lashed out at the state Congress government for not utilising the central funds. As observed across the country, National Youth Day was observed at the BJP Manipur Pradesh office organised by the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha. Accusing the Ibobi-led government, Thounaojam Chaoba said the state government is unable to use the central funds which the Central government is sending on time. To solve the the problem, Union Ministers will visit the state and inspect the projects. He said as the current year has been announced as the Membership Year, to help in making the reject successful two members have been appointed as the State level Membership Drive Publicity & Propaganda and State Level Membership Drive Social Media.  As part of today’s function, a complaint box was also installed at the BJP Manipur Pradesh office. Party President Thounaojam Chaoba said people of the state can send problems and issues. Th. Chaoba said people of Manipur can send their complaint to the mailbox. As part of the function, around 30 members of Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha donated blood at JNIMS, Porompat. 

IMPHAL: BJP Manipur Pradesh President Thounaojam Chaoba has emphasised that Bharatiya Janata Party’s one point agenda is to stop corruption. Chaoba said the party will not spare anyone involved in corruption cases. Addressing media persons at the party head office at Nityaipat Chuthek, Thounaojam Chaoba said BJP Manipur Pradesh will expose those involved in corruption including in the multi-crore Loktak Clean Up Scam. Regarding the multi-crore Loktak Clean Up Scam, Thounaojam Chaoba assured the people of Manipur that the party will speak at the right time and place. He said the public of Manipur should not think that the party has decided to keep quiet over the issue. He said people of Manipur need to wait for the right time as Prime Minister Narendra Modi is going to take major action.  Thounaojam Chaoba also announced that Thoudam Ibomcha, Upa-Adhakshya of Imphal East Zilla Parishad- Jiribam has joined the BJP. Thounaojam Chaoba said from tomorrow a complaint box will be installed at the office where people can drop in their suggestions and problems. He gave the assurance that the party will try to solve the issues faced by the people of the state.

IMPHAL: TRUGPU Nambol today defeated ARC Shillong 2-1 in the controversial first semi final match of 58th CC Meet to book a berth in the final. A goal by Kh Jackey of TRUGPU in the 7th minute of the match put ARC Shillong under pressure. However, ARC got a sigh of relief in the 26th minute when Robert found the equaliser. ARC attacked TRUGPU with a new strategy in the second half. But TRUGPU silenced the opponent in the 72nd minute with Ch Anand’s goal. Miserably, Assistant Referee ruled an attempt by Ajit Kumar of ARC to kick into the goal mouth off-side. ARC then strongly protested and scuffles erupted.  Police had to intervene to bring the volatile situation under control. ARC players walked out of the ground and the match was declared in favour of TRUGPU Nambol. MPSC will take on TRAU Kwakeithel in the second semi final tomorrow. Impact TV will telecast the match live on its Entertainment Channel.
