DIMAPUR: NSCN-IM leader Thuingalen Muivah has reiterated that the Meetei-Naga problem should be solved through mutual understanding not by a third force. Muivah said as their histories are different, their solutions may be different but the two solutions should have a meeting point.The NCSN leader met Chingsubam Wangambi, wife of late Chingsubam Akaba and leader of Meetei National Front and N Tomba, executive editor of Pandam on December 31 at peace camp at Hebron in Dimapur. Muivah said there may be conflict between the Meeteis and Nagas but a time will bring a solution. The meeting was also attended by Mathankhui Zimik, vice chairman of R Suisa Trust and Ngasathing, Deputy Kilonser, NSCN-IM. 

IMPHAL: Manipur Pradesh Trinamool Congress President MLA Thounaojam Shyamkumar shocked the political circuit by threatening to step down by April 1. Andro constituency MLA Thounaojam Shyamkumar made the statement at a press meet held at MLA Quarter at Kanglapat. Thounaojam Shyamkumar said he cannot trust the present political system in India. He accused the ruling government at the Centre and state for failing to curb corruption and bring good governance. He accused the Okram Ibobi led Congress government for failing to bring law and order in Manipur. He also accused the state government officials for indulging in corrupt practices. Regarding these issues, Thounaojam Shyamkumar said he is going to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the central leaders. He said if the central leaders fail to give him assurance then he will resign from his post on 1st April.MLA Thounaojam Shyamkumar said he is disheartened after Mamata Banerje led All India Trinamool Congress Committee government at West Bengal is accused in Sharada Scam.  Regarding the Sharadha Scam, Thounaojam Shyamkumar informed the media persons that he wrote to Mamata Banerjee to clear the party’s stand in the scam. He said he will resign from AITCC if the party is guilty in the scam. He said he will also resign from the post of MLA as he is unhappy with bad governance in the state. 

IMPHAL: As Modi wave has heightened BJP’s movement in Manipur, the chase for leadership emerges within the party. BJP State unit has appealed all members of the party who aspires to contest in 2017 State Election not to play preferential politics and weakens the party’s position. In a meeting with media persons today at the Head Office of BJP Manipur Pradesh at Nityaipat Chuthek, President in-charge Irom Mangiton said it’s great to see number of people joining BJP and coming forward to work for the party. He, however, denounced conducting of meetings and enrollment drives without seeking permission from BJP State unit. Suspecting of conducting enrolment drives under Mission 2015 by some party workers, Irom Mangiton appeals the Mandals to refrain from doing so in their own interest.Speaking to media persons, General Secretary of BJP State Unit L Basanta Sharma express shock and disbelief in finding non-party workers carrying out personal works in the name of BJP. He said one should enrol first as party worker to work for the party.  Member of the Core Committee, which is a decision-making body of BJP State Unit, Professor Saikhom Tiken said there is no doubt the party has strengthen its position, but if anyone is found carrying out personal works in the name of the party, Disciplinary Committee will take up strict actions.

NEW DELHI: Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh said the BJP led central govt will focus on North East region for development giving top priority towards Manipur. Rajnath Singh said this today in a meeting with the leaders of BJP Manipur Pradesh at his official Bungalow in 38 Ashoka Road in New Delhi. President of BJP Manipur Pradesh Thounaojam Chaoba, State General Secretary M Ashnikumar and BJP National Councillor Yanglet Haokip attended the meeting that lasted about 30 minutes. Leaders of BJP Manipur Pradesh highlighted many important state issues in the meeting that began at 11:15 in the morning. The Union Home Minister seriously listened to the points highlighted by State delegates and assured that he will look into the matter and will expedite on priority in the interest of the State.  He assured the State delegates that his ministry will extend all possible assistance for Manipur. Rajnath Singh also said he will visit Manipur once the Assembly election for New Delhi gets over.  

IMPHAL: Congress MLA Yungkham Irabot today stressed that the state govt should implement the Street Vendors (Protection of Livelihood and Regulation of Street Vending) Act 2014 in Manipur to protect the rights of street vendors. He said despite the directives of the Supreme Court and High Court of Manipur, to implement the Act, the state govt has so far ignored the act. Speaking at the 16th foundation day of the Roadside Vendors Welfare Association Manipur at GM Hall today assured the vendors of all possible assistance in their fight for their rights. General Secretary of National Hawkers Federation, Saktiman Ghosh, said the street vendors are being targeted everywhere. He said even though the Centre has assured the people of Achhe Din, the poor will see only worse days. He accused the govt of ignoring the rights of the street vendors.  President of Road Side Vendors Welfare Association Manipur Ksh. Tama demanded implementation of the Act in Manipur, setting up of town vending committee and urged the govt to provide the benefits of National Urban Renewable Mission to all the vendors.
