Chief Minister Okram Ibobi today categorically maintained that completion of Sanjenthong Bridge and Imphal Airport Road cannot be completed before Sangai Festival. Speaking exclusively to Impact News, Ibobi said it will be completed after the festival.CM Ibobi along with concerned officials inspected the condition of Tiddim Road today. He asked the concerned officials to take lessons from states like Assam and Bihar and apply the technique in the state for speedy completion of road. He also visited clogged drainage system at Paona Bazar where the machine is not working to flush out dirty materials inside the drain.
Lack of fund has hampered the construction and restoration of roads and bridges in the State. Speaking to media persons at his office at Old Secretariat, Babupara, Works Minister Dr Kh Ratankumar said construction and restoration of roads and bridges are taken up under a very limited resource and tight budget. Allotted amount of Special Plan Assistant fund has also lessen compared to last financial year. Andro MLA Th Shyamkumar has alleged that the rampant increase in crimes against women and children in Manipur is due to the failure of the state Govt to take concrete action. Speaking to media persons at his official quarters at Kangla Park, he said the crimes against women including disabled have drastically increased as the govt has failed to punish the perpetrators. He said if this continues there is no meaning in remaining as an MLA.
Chief Minister Okram Ibobi yesterday met Union Minister of Forest and Environment in New Delhi and urged him to issue the necessary orders on the clearance of its Ministry as soon as possible in connection with the construction of Jiribam-Tupul-Imphal BG railway project. Forest Advisory Committee recommended diversion of 1,005 hectares of forest land for construction of 111 km long Jiribam-Tupul-Imphal railway line in Manipur. Rural Development Minister Francis Ngajokpa yesterday dismissed charges levelled by Andro MLA, Th Shyamkumar accusing him of mis-appropriation of Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana scheme funds. Terming the charges as baseless, Francis Ngajokpa said the PMGSY e-procurement and e-tender process is handled by the nodal agency of National Rural Road Development Agency. He said the State and concern minister cannot use their influence and power to manipulate the funds.
