(0 votes)

Demand for homeland by various ethnic communities cannot address various issues confronting the state. This was asserted by Assistant Professor, Chinglen Maisnam in connection with the one day panel discussion on need for new socio economic and political vision of Manipur organised under the initiative of UPF at Artiste Workshop cum Dormitory Hall of Art and Culture Dept at Palace Compound yesterday.

He further said in a multi ethnic society like Manipur demand for Kukiland and greater Nagaland which are the demand of particular community will not solve the problems. He said a new and developed Manipur can only be brought by united efforts of various organisations of the state.

Though the general public is well aware of the fact that Sharmila’s agitation is meant for all of us yet it appears as an individual agitation. The state is surviving through various flagship programs and schemes of Central govt. We might not be able to sustain and survive once these schemes have gone.
