Imphal, August 6: The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has confirmed that India and Myanmar are continuing discussions to resolve undemarcated sections of their international border, amid reports suggesting a possible territorial exchange along the Manipur–Myanmar frontier. Speaking at a media briefing on Tuesday, MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said certain stretches of the border are yet to be formally demarcated and consultations between the two countries are ongoing. However, he did not confirm media reports claiming that India has proposed exchanging territory as part of the border demarcation and fencing process. The clarification follows a report by The Diplomat, which claimed that India is examining a proposal to demarcate the border between Boundary Pillars 65 and 68. AMSU warns of agitation over alleged move to cede Manipur territory to Myanmar

Jiribam residents threaten road blockade if Gularthol–Uchathol road remains unrepaired

Jiribam, August 6: Residents of Uchathol and adjoining villages in Jiribam district have warned of launching a series of democratic protests, including blocking the Gularthol–Uchathol road from August 16, if repair work is not taken up by the authorities before August 15. Disappearing springs could trigger water crisis in Manipur, says Environment Department

Former Moirang MLA distributes pension cards to over 230 senior citizens

Moirang, August 6: Former Moirang MLA Prithviraj Mairembam on Wednesday distributed Manipur Old Age Pension (MOAP) cards to 232 senior citizens aged above 60 years from 12 wards under the Moirang Assembly Constituency. The distribution programme was organised jointly with the Social Welfare Department at the former legislator's residence at Chengei. Beneficiaries included residents of Phubala Gram Panchayat, Tronglaobi Terakhongsangbi Gram Panchayat and areas under the Moirang Municipal Council. Manipur karate team leaves for South Asian Open International Championship in Nepal

Imphal, August 6: A five-member karate team from Kanglei Sports Academy, along with a team manager, left Imphal today to represent India at the 2nd South Asian Open International Karate Championship 2026, scheduled to be held on August 7 and 8 at Dasharath Stadium in Kathmandu, Nepal.
