Manipur Police Department has sent a proposal for handing over the Akoijam Nonganba alias Aging murder case to the National Investigation Agency, NIA. Accordingly, the Home Department, Government of Manipur has recommended the proposal and sent a proposal to the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India for handing over the case to the NIA.
It may be mentioned that Akoijam Nonganba alias Aging, son of Former Minister, Late AK Pilot Langam, from Kwakeithel Konjeng Awang Leikai was found dead under suspicious circumstances on February 12 at Changoubung area under Kangpokpi Police Station, after he went out with his alleged girlfriend Thokchom Sonia, hailing from Kwakeithel Thokchom Leikai.
Kangpokpi Police station had registered a case regarding the death of Nonganba, following which, the police had arrested Thokchom Sonia and Self-Styled Deputy Kilonser of NSCN-IM, Moses Gonmei, for their alleged involvement in the murder case. But the main accused in the murder case, who is identified as Self-Styled Kilonser of NSCM-IM, Stephen, is still at large.
Nonganba's body is still lying in the RIMS Morgue. JAC formed against the brutal killing of AK Nonganba and his family members have refused to claim his body, demanding Stephen's arrest and justice.
