Manipur's Maisnam Meiraba wins under 15 boys single in Yonex - BTY open 2016 at Bangkok
Imphal, 11 April 2016 : Manipur's Maisnam Meiraba has won the under 15 boys single in the Yonex - BTY open 2016 held at Bangkok from April 6-10. The international badminton event is organised by badminton association of Thailand under the royal patronage. In the final Meiraba defeated Hafidz Dzakwan Putra of Indonesia 21-13, 21-8. However Meiraba lost in the quarters of the under 17 to Kulrawut Vithisan of Thailand 18-21, 8-21.
Governor Shanmuganathan inaugurates 3-day Flower Festival at Mao; urges people to make Mao Gate as a tourist spot
Imphal, 11 April 2016 : Governor V. Shanmuganathan yesterday inaugurated three-day second Flower Festival at Mao Gate, Senapati district on Nagaland-Manipur border. Addressing the event celebrated on the theme - 'Colours of Spring', Governor Shanmuganathan appealed to the people to develop Mao Gate as a tourist spot. Stating that flower plays a major role in the life of a human being, the Governor said every one should plant more trees and flowers for more greenery in the state. The Flower Festival was organised by Senapati District Administration & Mao Flower Grower’s Association in collaboration with Department of Horticulture and Soil Conservation and Department of Commerce and Industries. The flower festival is a concept nurtured by the people at large with collective efforts to promote and popularise floriculture. Altogether 64 stalls were opened by flower growers from various parts of the state.
Okram Ibobi meets Governor Shanmuganathan to discuss cabinet reshuffle at Raj Bhawan
Imphal, 11 April 2016 : In the latest political development in the state chief minister Okram Ibobi today met Governor S. Shanmuganathan
to discuss the cabinet reshuffle this morning a little after 10 at Raj Bhawan. Sources told Impact news that the chief minister has submitted the list of ministers who are to be replaced along with the list of MLAs who are going to replace the ministers. The sources also said by tomorrow evening the names of the ministers who are going to be removed might be known. Till now the sources have not confirmed the exact number of ministers who are to be replaced. The sources however indicated that one MLA from Imphal East, one from Imphal West, one from Chandel district are likely to be inducted in the cabinet.
Designated camp of United Revolutionary Front (Soviet alias Chingkheinganba) torched by angry villagers of Napet Mamang Leikai under Lamlai police Station
Imphal, 10 April 2016 : A designated camp of United Revolutionary Front (Soviet alias Chingkheinganba) was burnt down by angry villagers of Napet Mamang Leikai last night. Local residents torched some remaining buildings of the camp this morning. The URF cadres - which is under Suspension of Operation since 2013 with the govt were staying at the designated camp at Lower Primary School in Napet Mamang Leikai under Lamlai police Station in Imphal East. The URF cadres allegedly physically assaulted some villagers of the area following which angry villagers chased the URF cadres from the camp and later torched it. 8 vehicles used by the cadres were destroyed in the fire. It is reported that a Thabal Chongba was organised yesterday by young girls of the locality in view of the Sajibu Nongma Panba Cheiraoba. Some URF cadres started frisking people near the spot of the Thabal Chongba and started fighting with the visitors. Local villagers were beaten up by URF cadres when they requested the cadres to stop the fight. After the issue escalated local residents came out and chased the URF cadres from their designated camp. Speaking to Impact News, Napet Mamang Leikai - Meira Paibi member, Laishram Shanti condemn the action of the URF cadre. She demanded the govt to relocation of the camp.
On the other hand, the locals of Napet Mamang Leikai and adjoining village held a public meeting this afternoon over the matter were six resolutions were taken. The locals resolved that no underground group under Suspension of Operation with the govt should open camp in the area, the villagers resolved to form JAC and face further course of action, the meeting also resolved to give licence gun to villagers, villagers demanded security for villagers from the state unless the matter is solved. The villagers demanded action against the accused URF (Soviet alias Chingkheinganba) cadres.
Union Minister Kalraj Mishra launches 13 projects in the state under ministry of Micro Small and Medium Enterprises
Imphal, 10 April 2016 : Union Minister of Micro Small and Medium Enterprises, Kalraj Mishra today launched 13 projects in the state under the ministry. The projects include Industrial Estate at Churachandpur, Ukhrul and Chandel, Technology Centre at Nilakuthi Food Park and 9 Livelihood Business Centres in all the 9 districts. MSME Union State Minister Giriraj Singh, Chief Minister Okram Ibobi, Minister Commerce and Industries, Sericulture and Animal Husbandry, Govindas Konthoujam, top officials of Ministry of MSME, officials of the departments concerned took part at the event. Speaking on the occasion, Union Minister Kalraj Mishra said central under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi is giving special attention in the development of the North Eastern States. Prime Minister has been specially asking the Union Ministers and the State Minister to frequently visit the North Eastern States and understand the issues and problems facing the people. Union Minister added that the projects launched today keep an objective of making youths self-sufficient and independent from the training obtained from the projects. Karla Mishra also stated that his ministry will extend all possible helps in the proposal of industrial plant put forward by the state govt.
