Imphal, 08 July 2016 : People today paid rich tributes to Sapam Robinhood who was killed during the ILPS stir last year on his first death anniversary. Robinhood died after he was hit by a tear gas shell while students were taking protests in Imphal demanding ILPS in Manipur. A large number of people including students took part in first death anniversary of Sapam Robinhood who has been awarded the title of “Lamjing Meira”. The function was held at his memorial at Awaching in Imphal East since morning. Traditional Pena singers performed marking the beginning of the observance. A contingent of Martial artists gave General Salute  to the Lamjing Meira. Students and people from different walks of life offered floral tributes at the memorial. Joint Committee On Inner Line Permit System (JCILPS) also held a memorial service at the same venue.

Convenor in charge of JCILPS, BK Moirangcha said the memorial service of Lamjing Meira Sapam Robinhood will make the movement for implementation of inner line permit system in the state stronger and the people will be more determined to protect the indigenous people. He said the  JCILPS has prepared a bill which will get the support of all the indigenous people of Manipur.
