Imphal, 21 August 2016 : Chief Minister Okram Ibobi appealed to the people to pledge to strengthen the unity and integrity of the country. Speaking at the Sadbhavna Diwas to mark the 72nd birth anniversary of former prime minister Rajiv Gandhi at the Banquet Hall of 1st Manipur Rifles, Ibobi described Rajiv Gandhi as a dynamic Prime Minister who deterred defection by introducing the Anti Defection law. He said Rajiv Gandhi dreamt of a united India and what is happening now in the country is against the principle he stood for. The chief minister also said Rajiv Gandhi coined the slogan Mera Bharat Mahan.
