Imphal, 09 August 2016 : Congress Legislative party meeting was held yesterday from 8.30 am to 12.30 pm at Chief Minister’s Conference Hall. The meeting discussed the delay in distribution of rice under the National Food Security Act. Impact News sources said the delay was cited due to mismatch in the names of the beneficiaries uploaded by National Informatics Centre, NIC and the number of cards issued. Due to this mismatch some districts are yet to get their share of rice bags. The meeting resolved to send a team comprising State Food and Civil Supplies, FCS Nodal Officer and representatives of NIC to New Delhi to talk to the Ministry concerned for early distribution of cards. The meeting also discussed whether to allow state and National media persons to meet Irom Chanu Sharmila who is expected to break her fast today. It was informed in the meeting that there will be prohibition on meeting Irom Chanu Sharmila till August 9 by media persons and political parties. There will be no restriction on meeting Sharmila in case she is released from state’s custody.
