Shiv Sena Manipur State Unit is giving preference to women candidates for the upcoming 12th Manipur Legislative Assembly elections 2022. The party gave a warm reception to new entrant, President of Awang Khunou Women Child and Development Society Maharabam Anita from Awang Sekmai Khunou Leikai at the party office in Babupara, Imphal today.

Speaking on the occasion, Shiv Sena Manipur State Unit President M.Tombi said that the party will give more preference to woman candidates. He stressed on the need to increase women's participation in politics as it will ease in devising strategies to deal with women related issues. M. Tombi mentioned that women's performance in Manipur's political arena is still very low in all the 60 Assembly Constituencies of Manipur.

It maybe mentioned that, ruling party of the State, Bharatiya Janata Party Manipur Pradesh has recently appointed its first Woman President, Adhikarimayum Sharda. She is spearheading to fulfill the Party's Late President S. Tikendra's vision of securing at least 40 BJP MLA seats in the upcoming 2022 elections.
