RTI Raises Questions Over Missing Records of ₹7.78 Crore EDP Scheme Funds

Imphal, August 2: An RTI disclosure has raised serious concerns over the implementation of the Economic Development Programme (EDP) under the Directorate of Welfare of OBC and SC, Government of Manipur. The department confirmed that over ₹7.78 crore was disbursed between 2017-18 and 2020-21 but stated that key records, including beneficiary applications, utilisation certificates, inspection reports and implementation documents, could not be traced. Following a second appeal, the Manipur Information Commission summoned the concerned officials. The absence of records has raised questions over transparency and verification of fund utilisation.

Woman Arrested with 70 Grams of Heroin in Kwakta

Bishnupur, August 2: As part of the War on Drugs campaign, Manipur Police arrested a 27-year-old woman identified as Shahna from Kwakta Ward No. 3 and seized 70 grams of heroin powder from her possession.
