Imphal, 05 December 2016 ( Evening News ) : Chief Minister Okram Ibobi Singh inaugurated the Food Processing Park at Nilakuthi in Imphal East today. Speaking at the occasion, Orkam Ibobi Singh said the Industrial sector in Manipur will not flourish without a private partnership. In the function organised by the Department of Commerce & Industries, the Chief Minister said the Food Processing Park will provide jobs to the educated youths of the state. Chief Minister said MSRTC and Spinning Mill at Loitang Khunou have been unable to take off despited huge investment from the state govt. Hence Private Participation is a must for the development of Industries in the state. Chief Minister further said the subsidy provided earlier by the Government of India under the Industries Policy due to the transportation issues in the North East, should continue. Without such policy it is impossible to establish any industry in the North East region. Okram Ibobi Singh said Handloom Sector has developed at about 40%, Food Processing at 25.8 % and Small Scale Industries Sector at 20% in the state. Speaking on the occasion, Commerce & Industries Minister, Govindas Konthoujam said the improvement of Industries means job creation for the unemployed. However, Economic Blockade which is more dangerous than the general strikes and bandhs have hampered the progress of an industry in the state.
