Imphal, 08 September 2016 ( Evening News ) : Volunteers of AMSU and NESU burnt bottles of Soft drink with tempered expiry dates at AMSU’s head office yesterday. Coca-Cola and Sprite bottles with tempered expiry dates were seized by AMSU and NESU members from BSR Enterprises, MG Avenue and a godown located in Mantripukhri. AMSU general secretary Manjit Sarangthem condemned the selling of expired products after tampering the information to the people and the authority’s silence on the matter. He stated that AMSU found SK enterprises, Sunil Enterprises and BSR enterprises, all dealers of Coca-Cola marketing expired colas to retailers. It may be mentioned that AMSU had also caught one Bikram, originally from Cachar who is employed by these retailers to tamper the dates on cola bottles. Following AMSU’s warning to ban all Coca-Cola products in Manipur if the individuals and dealers involved fail to surrender to AMSU by Sept 15, BSR had approached the student body. Manjit said necessary action will be taken against them if they fail to surrender by the given date.
