Imphal, 24 August 2016 ( Evening News ) : Chief Minister Okram Ibobi today emphasised the importance of information technology in every sphere. Okram Ibobi today launched the first e-District Project in Manipur at an event held at Imphal Hotel. In his speech Ibobi expressed the hope that the e-district will help the people living in far flung areas in the hills and valley in collecting information and essential documents from govt offices. He said people need not go to District Head Quarters and DC Offices to get official documents. He also reiterated the role of the DCs and their staffs in ensuring the benefits of the project among the people. He urged them to work sincerely to make the most out of the project. Ibobi said the govt. is giving top priority to power sector to make the project successful. The chief minister also stated that even though the country aims to provide 24 hour power supply by 2020, Manipur aims to achieve the target by 2017. In his speech deputy chief minister Gaikhangam also emphasised the sincerity of the employees to make the project a success. Under the project the people will be able to get their Income Certificate, Birth Certificate, Schedule Caste & Schedule Tribe certificates and register their names on Electoral Roll online.
