Imphal, 20 August 2016 ( Evening News ) : People today held widespread protests in several parts of the valley in response to the appeal of the Joint Committee on Inner Line Permit System (JCILPS) to hold sit-ins demanding Inner Line Permit System in the state. Members of Kanglei Chanu Kanba Lup, New Checkon today underwent fast at the relay hunger strike at Keishampat Leimajam Leikai Community Hall. Volunteers of NIPCO and residents of Keishampat Keisham Leikai staged sit-in at Keishampat Lairembi Community Hall. Similar protests were held by women vendors of Puleiromba Keithel on Palace Compound. Shops remained closed in the market. It may be mentioned that the JCILPS appealed to the people to support its movement for implementation of inner line permit system until the govt passes a bill to protect the indigenous people of Manipur.
