3 killed in clashes among inmates in Central Sajiwa jail, dead include 2 from saudi Arabia and 1 from Churachandpur

Imphal, 30 July 2016 ( Evening News ) : Three inmates died early this morning at Central Jail, Sajiwa during clashes among the jail inmates. The deceased are identified as Thangminlian Zou, age 29, son of Kaphanpao from Maullum Village, Churachandpur, Yusuf, age 21, son of Siddiq and Abdul Salam, age 22, son of Abdul Ahad,  from Madinatul Manou Warh, Saudi Arabia. The incident occurred at around 1 AM at Cell Number 6 of Sector 1 where all the deceased are lodged together. Yusuf and Abdul first assaulted Thangminlian and he died on the spot. Other inmates forcibly opened their cells and retaliated against Yusuf and Abdul. Security personnel at the jail had to fire gun in the air, tear gas shells and mock bombs to put the situation under control. However, Yusuf and Abdul died during the clash and three security personnel including a jailor sustained injury.  Thangminlian was an under trial under IPC Section 302 and Yusuf and Abdul were lodged in the jail after they were arrested under Foreigners’ Act in 2013 while entering Moreh, India without valid documents. Process to deport them to Saudi Arabia was underway. All the bodies have been taken to JNIMS for post mortem and a case has been registered at Heingang Police station. ADGP, Jail and Prison, P Doungel, SP Imphal East, Angam and SDO Imphal East rushed to the spot and took stock of the situation. How the fight among the three inmates erupted was not immediately known.
