Imphal, 21 July 2016 ( Evening News) : Women vendors of Imoinu andi Phouoibi Keithel who have been shifted to the temporary market sheds behind Johnstone Higher Secondary School rose in unison and attempted to reoccupy the markets in Khwairamband Keithel which were damaged in the January 4 earthquake. Women vendors complained of inconveniences faced at the present temporary market sheds including congestions in the market and low roof. Khadangbam Shantibala, a woman vendor said they welcomed the temporary measures to accommodate the woman vendors at the makeshift market sheds behind Johnstone school after the Market no. 2 and 3 were damaged by the earthquake. But the makeshift market is very small and both the buyers and the sellers face a number of inconveniences everyday. She said the roof of the market shed is very low and it is unbearably hot inside the market. Shantibala also added that the authority concerned had been informed to address the issues facing the women vendors by July 20. But failure to give any positive response from the authority compelled them to reoccupy the damaged markets. Meanwhile, some members of BJP Manipur Pradesh visited and took stock of the situation.
