Imphal, 02 July 2016 : Chief Minister Okram Ibobi Singh has assured of doing all his best for the welfare of the state journalists including health care scheme during a meeting with the journalists led by All Manipur Working Journalists’ Union, President Wangkhemcha Shamjai yesterday. Speaking to media, Wangkhemcha Shamjai said AMWJU submitted a 10-point memorandum to the govt concerning the welfare of the journalists. Establishment of Press Academy, Housing Colony, allocation of land for AMWJU’s Moreh, Mao, Ukhrul and Tamenglong branches, free medical aid, ex-gratia to those journalists who died in the line of duty, family benefit schemes were included in the memorandum. AMWJU President added that the Chief Minister assured of converting the points raised by AMWJU into action as soon as possible. Chief Minister also assured of constructing a Memorial of Thangjam Dwijamani who died in 2012 because of stray bullet at Chingmeirong Cheirao Ching.
