Imphal, 30 June 2016 ( Evening News) : AC formed against the brutal killing of Md Arif has called for 28 hour bandh in Thoubal district from midnight tonight demanding immediate arrest of those involved in the killing. Mention may be made that Md Arif was killed during a commotion between two groups at Nungei on June 26. The JAC had earlier demanded to book the culprits involved in the killing of Md Arif within 48 hours from the June 27. A large number of protestors blocked the Imphal Moreh road in front of Lilong Police Station as the deadline for 48 hours has lapsed. Protesters also shouted slogans such as ‘punish killer IRB’, ‘Suspend IRB Personnel involved in killing a student’, ‘No need of Lilong PS which support killers in Lilong’. JAC Convenor Aslam Khan said an FIR has been registered at Lilong PS in regards to the killing and a memorandum has also been submitted to the Chief Minister and other authorities concerned. However, no progress in the case even after 4 days has lapsed is condemnable and unacceptable. Convenor also warned of intense agitation if the culprits are not booked at the earliest.
Popular Front of India, Manipur State in a press release stated that people shouldn’t ignore the recent Lilong Nungei incident where a teenager Md. Arif khan, Son of Md. Ayajudin was killed by the 3rd IRB and a gang of a community of the village. It further stated that the incident is strongly condemnable and appealed the authorities concerned to punish the culprits according to the law of the land at the earliest.
