Imphal, 22 June 2016 ( Evening News) : Concerned Citizens Manipur today organised a people's convention to bring back normalcy in the strife torn state. Women representatives of various ethnic communities of the hills and valley, Civil Society Organisations, NGOs and university teachers participated in the discussion held at Hotel Imphal Siroy Conference Hall. The participants discussed the prevailing situation in the state following the demand for Inner Line Permit System and the crying need for talks among the various communities living in Manipur to come to an agreement on the Manipur Protection of Peoples Bill, 2015 passed by the state assembly in the interest of all concerned and other issues facing the state. Convenor of Concerned Citizens Manipur Binalakshmi Nepram said the movement for ILPS is not new. She maintained that the movement was launched in 1980 to protect the indigenous people of the state. Binalakshmi alleged that a few handful of people are trying to give a negative picture of the movement. She appealed to the State government to take the right step to resolve the ILPS issue instead of ignoring it to protect the ethnic communities living in Manipur.
