Manipur Government has slashed tuition fees and teachers' salary of all Aided and private schools in the state in the wake of prevailing second wave of Covid-19 pandemic. State Education (s) Director L. Nadakumar released an order to this effect today.
As per the order, all Private and Government Aided schools in the state can collect only 50 per of tuition fees from students starting from the month of May this year and to pay 70 per cent salary to the teachers.The order further said, schools are prohibited from collecting tuition fees from students who have been orphaned or have lost either parents due to COVID-19. It also said schools should continue imparting education to students through online mode.
On the other hand, President of United Association Recognised Schools of Manipur, Laishram Joy told Impact News that private schools have not decided whether to accept the government's order or not. He said that the association members will hold a meeting at the earliest to discuss the matter.
