Imphal, 15 December 2017 ( Evening News ) : A new scheme offering medical assistance of unto 2 lakh rupees for BPL families will be introduced on January, 1, next year. The scheme is exclusively meant for the poorest of the poor in the society. Chief Minister Nongthonbam Biren disclosed the same during the monthly ‘Meeyam Gee Numit’ held on the 15th of every month at the Chief Minister’s Secretariat, today. He further disclosed that a company has been selected to survey regarding the scheme. The company in its survey will identify the poorest of poor families to avoid giving the AAY and BPL cards to well to do families. The said survey will be conducted along with panchayats and local clubs. Chief Minister N. Biren expressed faith that the scheme will genuinely benefit the poorest of poor. On the other hand, Biren also said, 6 nurses will be given exclusive trainings for Neuro surgery as facility for Neuro Surgery with latest equipments is now available at JNIMS. Chief Minister Biren also expressed deep sorrow at the recent acid attack incident. He declared that free treatment for the victim and assistance to the family members will be provided by the State Government. He reminded that a Fast Track Court has been set up in the state to prevent crimes against women and reaffirmed that this would enable in taking up immediate actions towards crimes against women.
