Imphal, 13 May 2017 ( Evening News ) : Health and family welfare minister, L. Jayentakumar today announced a provision of free treatment of people suffering from Hepatitis C. The minister made the announcement at an event jointly organised by Health Department, Manipur State Aids Control Society and Yaswant Rao Gaitonde Centre for Aids Research Education (YRGCARE) at Hotel Classic Grande. The minister said it is the responsibility of the Government to make the state free of diseases and maintain a healthy society. He said the state govt appreciates and welcomes the proposal of Chennai based YRGCARE to provide free treatment to the people suffering from Hepatitis C. He assured that the govt will extend every possible help to make the program successfull. Jayentakumar said the govt gives priority to the health sector and will try to introduce the provision at the earliest. Additional Director of Health, Dr. S. Manikanta and Research Manager of YRGCARE, AK Srikrishnan were among those present at the event.
