17 out of total 50 companies of Central Armed Police Forces sent by Ministry of Home Affairs reach Manipur to assist in maintaining law and order
Imphal, 20th Nov 2024 (Evening News) : 17 additional Central Armed Police Forces CAPF companies out of total 50 companies sent by Ministry of Home Affairs have reached Manipur to assist in maintaining law and order in the state. C-17 and C -130 Military Aircrafts carrying five companies of CAPF landed at the Imphal International Airport around 12.30PM today. Additional troops sent by the MHA after Monday's Manipur security meeting chaired Union Home Minister Amit Shah started arriving in Manipur since yesterday morning and one more later. Till late last evening 11 companies of CAPF landed at the airport. Earlier on November 12, the MHA had also sanctioned deployment of 20 companies of Central Armed Police Forces to Manipur.
Assam Rifles Seizes Betel Nut Smuggled from Myanmar worth more than 74 Crore Rupees from four different locations in Tengnoupal District
Imphal,16th Nov 2024 (Evening News) : In a major crackdown on cross-border smuggling, the Assam Rifles seized a large consignment of arreca nut smuggled from Myanmar, valued at around 74 Crore 52 Lakh Rupees, from various locations in Tengnoupal district. The contraband was being transported in 53 trucks across the district when it was intercepted by the security forces in four different areas. According to reports, Assam Rifles acted on reliable intelligence inputs regarding the smuggling operation. The seized consignment included 3,400 bags of betel nut worth around 23 crore rupees from Narum, 255 bags worth 1 Crore 76 lakh rupees from Sita village, 400 bags worth 2 Crore 76 Lakh rupees from RCC village, and 800 bags valued at 47 crore rupees from Lamlong Khunou. The seized goods have been handed over to Imphal Forest Department for further legal action.
MPCC appeals for safe release of six abducted women and children in Jiribam on humanitarian ground
Imphal, 13th Nov 2024(Evening News) : Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) condemns recent spate of violent incidents in Jiribam district that resulted in civilian casualties and extensive property damage. The MPCC also appealed for the safe release of six abducted civilians, including children, on humanitarian grounds. Addressing the press at his Babupara residence in Imphal today, Congress Legislative Party (CLP) leader Okram Ibobi, joined by party MLAs and leaders, urged the central government to initiate peace talks between the affected communities as a step toward a peaceful resolution. Ibobi expressed concern over the uncertainty faced by people in remote areas amidst ongoing violence, questioning the government’s effectiveness in ensuring their safety. Ibobi questioned if the government holds any relevance as it is failing to protect the lives, properties of people in the state. He further criticised both Centre and state governments' inaction questioning if Manipur is not a part of the country. Ibobi underscored that a government must uphold law and order and protect the lives and property of its citizens, reiterating that failure in these duties renders the government irrelevant.
Additional companies of Central Armed Police Forces start landing at Imphal International Airport this afternoon; MHA sanctions companies; total 8 companies to be airlifted by this evening from Guwahati and Agartala
Imphal, 13th Nov 2024(Evening News) : Additional companies of Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) started landing at Imphal International Airport since this afternoon. Impact News source said, a total of 8 companies of CAPFs will be airlifted to Imphal by this evening from Guwahati and Agartala. Ministry of Home Affairs yesterday issued a notice sanctioning immediate deployment of an additional 20 companies (Coys) of Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) to Manipur to assist in maintaining law and order in the state. The deployment will last until November 30, 2024, and includes 15 companies of CRPF from Assam and 5 companies of BSF from Tripura. With this addition, a total of 218 CAPF companies will be available in Manipur, comprising 115 CRPF companies, 84 BSF companies, 8 RAF companies, 5 ITBP companies, and 6 SSB companies. The Government of Manipur has been urged to coordinate the deployment plan with the respective forces.
Armed Assailants set ablaze One Truck and fire gunshots on another along Imphal-Jiribam Road
Imphal, 13 th Nov 2024( Evening ) : Suspected Armed Kuki assailants set ablaze One Onion-loaded Truck, and also fired gunshots on a Truck loaded with Potatoes along the Imphal-Jiribam Road, National Highway 37 in Old Kaiphundai area, under Taosem Police Staiton, Tamenglong District this morning. According to Police report, the Two Tata Trucks were heading from Jiribam to Noney. Suspected Armed Kuki assailants torched down the Onion loaded truck bearing registration number AS 11 BC 3577, and they opened fire at the potato laden truck bearing registration number MN-05-C3 992 this morning at around 6. No casualties were reported in the incident. A team from Tousem Police Station rushed to the incident site and took stock of the situation. It is learnt that the Two Trucks attacked by armed assailants are owned by a person from the Naga Community and the Drivers were Non-Locals.
