Imphal, 03 Sep 2020( Evening News ) : Central Bureau of Investigation, CBI in a letter on September 1, to the Secretary of  Manipur Public Service Commission (MPSC) has requested to share the necessary steps already taken and has also suggested various measures to hold the Manipur Civil Service Combined Competitive (Main) Exam, 2016 afresh in a fair and transparent manner. In the letter, the CBI had also suggested certain steps and measures based on the observations made by the High Court of Manipur in the relevant Paras under the heading “Appreciation of Lapses & irregularities” of its common Judgement & Order of October 18, 2019, which include laying down of proper procedures by the MPSC for evaluation and tabulation of answer books or sheets in compliance of sub-rule 18 of Rule 26-B of the MPSC (Procedure & Conduct of Business) Rules, 2011. CBI has laid down 7 guidelines for the examination including instruction to MPSC for CCTV coverage during the Main Examination covering the entire Examination rooms/centres, Strong rooms where the Questions papers or answer scripts are kept, during evaluation of answer scripts by the examiners, scrutiny of the answer scripts, codification and interview etc..and for proper preservation of the CCTV footages.

Imphal, 01 Sep 2020 ( Evening News ) : NPP Legislator cum Deputy Chief Minister, Yumnam Joykumar has declared that Thangminlien Kipgen is a self acclaimed President of National People’s Party, NPP Manipur State Unit who has been already expelled from the Party and that he has no connection whatsoever with NPP. He was responding to media query regarding bifurcation within NPP on the sidelines of 74th Birth Anniversary celebration of NPP Founder P.A Sangma today. The event was held at the office of NPP Manipur State Unit in Naoremthong. Yumnam Joykumar reiterated that former President of NPP Manipur State Unit-Thangminlien Kipgen was expelled from NPP by National President Conrad K Sangma on August 24 for acting against the Party’s Constitution. He said Thangminlien Kipgen claims to the Party President till date, however he is no longer associated with NPP anymore.

Attending the celebration, Interim President of NPP Manipur State Unit cum Tribal & Affairs Minister, N. Kayisii said NPP Candidates will definitely contest in the upcoming Bi-Elections. However, it is yet to be decided whether NPP candidates will contest from every constituencies or not. He said the decision on the same will taken upon the arrival of the Party National President. Floral tributes were paid to the portrait of P. A Sangma by 4 NPP Legislators of the BJP led State Government and other party leaders at the event. Corporator of Imphal Municipal Corporation Ward no. 27 N. Herojit who have left Congress to join the NPP was accorded a warm welcome on the occasion.

Imphal, 31 Aug 2020 ( Evening News ) : Chief Minister Nongthombam Biren virtually inaugurated Level-1 Trauma Centre and ICU Twin OT Complex of RIMS from Chief Minister’s Secretariat in Babupara today. RIMS Director Professor A. Santa, MS Ch. Arunkumar and other RIMS staff joined the event from RIMS Lecture Theatre Complex via video link. Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister N.Biren said Manipur does not lack in good doctors but still many patients go outside the state for treatment due to lack of good infrastructure and equipments in the state. He expressed pride that with the relentless efforts of the RIMS authority, many modern infrastructure are being installed under various projects at the Hospital to provide better treatment facilities. He asserted that the newly opened Trauma Centre will lessen incidence of deaths from road mishaps. N.Biren said, the Government acknowledges the plights facing medical staff in the state and it is committed to help them, yet it is unable to provide required equipments on time due to financial constraints. He assured of all out efforts to meet their needs. Talking about the current COVID-19 situation in the state, the Chief Minister appealed to abide by guidelines issued by the Government and Health Experts to combat the pandemic.

Imphal, 25 Aug 2020 ( Evening News ) : Manipuri University Students Union (MUSU) has also extended support to the movement of Manipuri Diasporas in Assam for the enlistment of Manipuri language as an associate official language of the Assam Government.  Speaking to media today, MUSU President M.  Boby reminded that the Assam Government recognised Manipuris settled in Assam as their indigenous inhabitants in 1956 and the Manipuri language is even taught in schools in areas inhabited by Manipuris, but since the language has not been enlisted as an associate official language, Manipuri Diasporas in Assam cannot write various Competitive exams in Manipuri language.  He said MUSU had even started poster campaign supporting the movement few days ago.  Boby appealed to the state government to look into the matter and take necessary steps at the earliest.

Imphal, 24 Aug 2020 ( Evening News ) : Chief Minister Nongthombam Biren along with MLA RK Imo and ex-MLA Abdul Nasir arrives in Imphal from Delhi this afternoon. Five Congress MLAs who have recently joined the BJP are staying behind in the national capital. A reliable source said that Chief Minister N Biren, BJP Manipur President Professor S.Tiken, Okram Henry, Oinam Lukhoi, Paonam Brojen, Ginsaunhao Zhou and Ngamthang Haokip have been waiting to get an appointment to meet Union Home Minister Amit Shah who is being treated for COVID-19 at AIIMS. Since the exact date of his discharge is still unknown, the Chief Minister chose to return home to attend to affairs of the state. The Chief Minister along with the 5 MLAs will meet the Union Home Minister as soon as they get his appointment.
