THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Two Manipuri girls Ch Priya and Th Chaoba Devi won bronze medal in rowing on the 5th day of 35th National Games 2015 in Kerala. The Manipuri players won the bronze medal in the 500 metre Doubles Scull event. Manipur missed out medal in 500 metre rowing event as Th Chaoba came 5th.  It was bad luck again for Manipur team in the women's 500m Coaxless Rowing final. The team of Sh Romila, A Radhapyari, Gienramphy and P Sushila came 6th. Manipur have won 4 gold, 1 silver and 4 bronze. 

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Manipuri archers have reached the semi-final in the Compound and Mix team events in the ongoing 35th National Games in Kerala. The team of P Lily, RK Satyapriya and Th Isembi defeated Bihar in Archery Compound event to enter semi final.Manipur scored 219 points while Bihar got 214 Points. Manipur will now meet Punjab in the semi final on 7th of this month. Sh Ramakanta and P Lily defeated Haryana team in Mix Doubles to book a berth in the semi finals.  While Haryana scored 141 points, Manipur got 214 points. They will meet Rajasthan in semi final on the 7th of this month.

Manipuri girls romped home with the Championship Trophy in doubles at the 17th Sub-Junior National Sepak Takraw Championship held at Kurnool in Andhra Pradesh. In singles, the boys and girls team from Manipur managed to corner the 3rd position at the Regu event of the championship. The Adhoc Committee Sepak Takraw Manipur gave the jubilant team a rousing reception at a function held here yesterday. The Championship was organised by Andhra Pradesh Sepak Takraw Association at Kurnool, Andhra Pradesh from 11 to 14 of January.   Altogether 10 players, 2 managers and 2 coaches from Manipur participated at the Championship. Imphal East DYASO Nirmalata Devi, Imphal West DYASO Ng Motilal, SAI Coach Muhindro and Team Manager Mahavir who graced the reception function distributed certificates and medal to the winners.

IMPHAL: TRUGPU Nambol today defeated ARC Shillong 2-1 in the controversial first semi final match of 58th CC Meet to book a berth in the final. A goal by Kh Jackey of TRUGPU in the 7th minute of the match put ARC Shillong under pressure. However, ARC got a sigh of relief in the 26th minute when Robert found the equaliser. ARC attacked TRUGPU with a new strategy in the second half. But TRUGPU silenced the opponent in the 72nd minute with Ch Anand’s goal. Miserably, Assistant Referee ruled an attempt by Ajit Kumar of ARC to kick into the goal mouth off-side. ARC then strongly protested and scuffles erupted.  Police had to intervene to bring the volatile situation under control. ARC players walked out of the ground and the match was declared in favour of TRUGPU Nambol. MPSC will take on TRAU Kwakeithel in the second semi final tomorrow. Impact TV will telecast the match live on its Entertainment Channel. 

IMPHAL: Bodybuilders Laitonjam Rishikanta Singh, Thanjam Roshan and boxer Konthoujam Bishworjit Singh were today felicitated by Patsoi Apunba. In the recently concluded Eastern India Body Building Championship 2015, Laitonjam Rishikanta Singh won gold in the 70 kg category while Thangjam Roshan stood 5th in the 55 kg category. Konthoujam Bishworjit won gold in 81 kg category in the National Level Open North East Game Championship Boxing event held in Aruncahal Pradesh last month.  The reception was organised by the Patsoi Apunba of Patsoi Assembly Constituency at Patsoi Unikhong Bazar, Community Hall. Laitonjam Rishikanta Singh, Thangjam Roshan and Konthoujam Bishworjit Singh were presented with gifts at the felicitation.

IMPHAL: Last year's finalist TRAU Kwakeithel revenged their defeat in the final by beating the defending champion SSB West Bengal 4-2 in the quarter final to enter the semi final of the 58th CC Meet today at Mapal Kangjeibubg. TRAU's A Herojit scored the first goal of the match in the 8th minute. The second goal of the first half was scored by N Susil. SSB's captain H Govinda scored their first goal in the 68th minute.  SSB's second goal was also scored by the captain soon after Naoton netted the third goal for TRAU. TRAU will meet MPSC in the semi final. TRUGPU and ARC Shillong will meet in the first semi final tomorrow. 

Manipur Police Sports Club (MPSC) have entered the semi final of 58th CC meet. They trounced BRSA Tinsukia by 7-0 in the third quarter final of the tournament today at Mapal Kangjeibung. Th Kiran of MPSC scored the first and only goal of the first half in the 7th minute of the match which was held in the rain. However Th Kiran, Ksh Kanta and Golmei scored two goals each in the second half. The players missed many opportunities to score goals due to the slippery ground.  BRSA Tinsukia could not score even a single goal despite their brave fight. Golmei of MPSC was declared Man of the Match. The fourth quarter final will be between defending champion SSB and last year's finalist TRAU Kwakeithel. Coach of MPSC Kh Sanaton said they will try their best to perform in the semi final to book a berth in the final. 

Manipur will host the 6th edition of Eastern India Body Building Championship at Khuman Lampak Auditorium Hall. The championship, which kicks off tomorrow, is jointly organised by All Manipur Gymnasium Welfare Association under the guidance of Eastern India Body Building Association.  A total number of 80 body builders from six states from the East zone would compete in 8 different categories. The championship is sponsored by KFC gym and the teaching and non-teaching staff of JNIMS contributed rupees 60,000. Ajit, General Secretary of All Manipur Gymnasium Welfare Association, said the objective of organising such championship is to make the people aware of  the discipline and also make maximum number of body builders of the state to participate in the championship.

The second 5-day long Kakching Festival mounted by Joint Non-Government Voluntary Organization (JNGVO) Kackhing kicked off yesterday. Members of JNGVO and sports persons took out a torch rally from Krejing to various parts of Kakching spreading the message of the festival. They also made offerings to several religious places for smooth conduct of the festival. Speaking at the function Parliamentary Secretary M Prithiviraj said the state can attract tourists only when the traditional songs and dances are preserved. On the first day of the festival, Kakching football match, Kakching haraoba and Kakchig Musical Nite were held. 

Ningthoujam Suraj consecutively bagged Mr Moirang Khamba 2014 Title. The 3rd edition of Mister Moirang Khamba was organised by the All Manipur Gymnasium Welfare Association in the GM hall. The categories of the contest include Junior, Senior, Master, Physically Challenged MR Manipur Moirang-Khamba and also the First woman state level body building championship. Altogether 92 body builders participated in the contest. In Junior category, Manipur police sports club RK Manjit Singh was conferred Junior Mister Manipur Moirang-Khamba title. N Jayenta Singh of Kanglei Fitness Centre, Canchipur got the physically challenged Mr Moirang Khamba title. In the woman state-level body building championship, K Rabita of Royal Gym stood the first position while the second slot goes to Th Sarita of Royal Fitness Gym, Thoubal. In the Master category, K Dinesh Singh of YPISM, Uripok won the Master overall title. However the overall title of MR Manipur Moirang-Khamba went to N Suraj Singh of Royal Gym, Ningomthong.
