TWO KILLED IN POLL-RELATED VIOLENCE AT SAMUROU AWANG LEIKAI, WANGOI A/C
Two persons killed in reported poll-related violence at Wangoi Assembly Constituency; CM N. Biren, Wangoi MLA O. Lukhoi share griefs of bereaved families
Two persons including one Havildar of Special Command 2nd IRB were killed in a reported poll-related violence at Samurou Awang Leikai under Wangoi Police Station of Wangoi Assembly Constituency in Imphal West district last night. Deceased Havildar is identified as 40-Year-Old, Abujam Sachikanta alias Tomba, son of late Abujam Mani from the same locality. The second deceased is also from the same locality and is identified as 58-Year-Old, Abujam John, Son of late Abujam Dojo.
Impact News sources said Abujam John is an active worker of Wangoi MLA cum Agriculture Minister Oinam Lukhoi. The incident reportedly occurred at Samurou Awang Leikai roadside at around 9.40 PM yesterday when unknown miscreants shot Abujam John twice on his left chest. He was immediately rushed to Advance hospital but succumbed to his injuries at around 10.30PM. While, Abujam Sachikanta was shot on his right abdomen. He was rushed to Raj-Medicity where he succumbed to his injuries at around 5AM today.
Locals of Samurou today erupted into agitation condemning the incident. Protestors blocked roads and prevented traffic movement. Top Police personnel including Imphal West District SP rushed to the area to contain the situation. Chief Minister N. Biren and Wangoi MLA O. Lukhoi took stock of the situation and condmened the incident. They met with the bereaved families and offered their condolences. JAC has been already formed against the double murder demanding justice. Wangoi Police Station has registered a case and investigations are underway.
