Imphal, 20 May 2016( Evening News) : JCILPS students wing has claimed that the B.A and BSc examinations conducted by Manipur University during the 38 hour cease work of the JCILPS to protect the indigenous people cannot be considered valid and must be rescheduled. Convenor of the students wing Oinam Nandababu today told the media at JCILPS office at Konjeng Hajari Leikai that the representatives of JCILPS Students wing yesterday met the Controller of Examinations and Registrar of  Manipur University requesting them to postpone the examinations in view of the cease work. He lamented the decision of the university authorities to continue with the semester examinations today. He maintained that many students could not appear in today's examinations due to the cease work and should be rescheduled.

Imphal, 20 May 2016 ( Evening News) : The 38-hour total shutdown imposed by Joint Committee on Inner Line Permit System - JCILPS completely paralysed life in the valley. JCILPS yesterday announced a 38-hour shutdown from 4 am today till 6 pm tomorrow. JCILPS had accused the government of indulging in delaying tactics over making the 3 bills passed by state assembly into an act. The joint committee had appealed to the people to cease work and join the agitation. During the total shutdown today, govt offices recorded low attendance. Govt and Private Educational institutions, all commercial activities including commercial establishments remained closed. Residents at various localities blocked roads and shouted slogans in support of Inner Line Permit System. Roads in Imphal East wore deserted look with educational institutions and commercial establishments being closed. Low attendance was also recorded at the D.C. Complex, SDO office. Locals blocked roads at various localities in Imphal East in support of ILPS by placing wood logs, stones and bamboos. The road stretch from Kongba to Porompat and Khurai-Ayangpali was also blocked at local residents by placing logs, stones and bamboos. Similar scenes were also seen at Khurai Lamlong area. Local residents also blocked Lairikyengbam Leikai, the birth place of late Sapam Robinhood. The cease work was relaxed for religious functions, emergency cases, students appearing in BA and BSc 6th Semester examinations and media persons. There were however reports of patient parties facing problems as bandh supporters allegedly forced them divert the routes.

Imphal, 19 May 2016 ( Evening News ):  A young woman was found dead this morning near  Uchiwa Lamhang Thambalhoubi under Mayang Imphal Police Station. The body was discovered near a pond in the fish farm of Chongtham Ranjit. The deceased is identified as Wahengbam Ichal,  20 years. She is a divorcee and living at her mother's paternal home at  Sekmaijing Khunou Mayai Leikai. Family sources said she went out to meet a newly acquainted male friend yesterday afternoon around 3. Owner of the fish farm, Ranjit discovered the body while feeding the fish. Her neck was tied with a rope and her chest bore the scar left by a sharp object. Her clothes were also disheveled. The body has been deposited at RIMS morgue.

Imphal, 17 May 2016 : Illegal encroachments on foot paths of main roads in Imphal were removed by a team of police personnel today. Under the direction of Works Minister Kshetrimayum Biren, the encroachers were forced to remove piles of timber from the eastern side of Minuthong near the crematorium of Imphal Municipal Corporation. Police personnel also seized some of them. Eviction of illegal encroachment on main roads will continue as the Government has already decided to remove the illegal structures on the roadsides to ease the traffic congestion in Imphal city.

Imphal, 17 May 2016 ( Evening News ): An IED exploded at Reliable Cargo Movement, RCM - a private transport office near Thangal Bazar, Khoyathong this morning around 4.15. The blast damaged the shutter and  and window glasses of RCM Transport office and nearby buildings. Health Care Centre - a fitness centre located opposite the RCM building also suffered damages due to the explosion. There was no report of human casualty. Reacting to the blast, Athokpam ongbi Leibaklotpi a client of the Health Care Centre condemned the blast at public place. She appealed to all not to repeat such act in future.

Imphal, 16 May 2016 ( Evening News ) : National Students’ Union of India, (NSUI) Northeast cell is organising academic career counselling programme from May 20 at DM college. Speaking to media persons today at Congress Bhawan, NSUI Manipur State In-charge, Amin Shah said that students who want to study outside Manipur faces lots of problem while getting admission at new places. To ease the problems NSUI is organising career counselling programme, legal awareness and clear cut guidelines for the students of Manipur who recently passed the 12 standard while seeking admission in particularly at Delhi University, Jamia Milia University and JNU for their studies.

Addressing the gathering NSUI Northeast convenor P. Bakim-chandra Meitei said that the career counselling will be held at 4 zone that is Imphal, Bishnupur, Thoubal and Komlathabi in Chandel district. For Imphal east and Imphal west the career counselling will be conducted on May 20 May at DM college.

Imphal, 16 May 2016 ( Evening News) : State Revenue Department today evicted shops and private houses built on the encroached land on both sides of National Highway 37 near Government Polytechnic Training Centre at around 9.30 this morning. Officials of the department along with police dismantled the illegal structures using JCB. However, shopkeepers opposed and resisted the step. A shopkeeper S. Amudom said an order was issued on May 14 stating the people to remove the structure on their own. He said shopkeepers have been trying to remove the structure following the order. But the officials without any prior information came and forcibly dismantled all the shops and house along the stretch beyond usable.

Imphal, 15 May 2016 ( Evening News) : In support of the Joint Committee on Inner Line Permit System, JCILPS demand for implementation of inner line permit in the state, people today blocked Moirangkhom to Lilong stretch of the national highway 2 for one hour. Protestors also prevented vehicular movement during the agitation and staged sit-ins at various places from Moirangkhom till Lilong Thong demanding conversion of the 3 bills to an act. The protestors which included members of meira paibi organisations, young men and women placed bamboos, logs, electric poles and large stones on the middle of the road and halted traffic movement  at Moirangkhom, Singjamei, Kakwa and Lilong. Commuters was badly hit by one-hour blocking of the road. They managed to reach their destination by taking alternate routes. However the protestors allowed the candidates who were appearing in the civil services examination conducted by Manipur Public Service Commission to pass. The protestors later formed human chains and chanted slogans demanding ILP in Manipur.

Imphal, 15 May 2016 ( Evening News) : A vehicle thief was captured by a team of  Patsoi Police station and locals of Yurembam Awang Leikai. The arrested person is identified as W. Somananda @ Yaima, 27 years son of late Deban of Sagolband Bijoy Govinda Mamang Leikai. Sources said Somanada was captured while he was trying to steal a red Honda Dio, MN01-V2381 at Yurembam yesterday. Patsoi P.S and Lilong P.S recovered 3 two-wheelers from Lilong Mamang Leikai after questioning him. The recovered  two-wheelers are Honda Dio- MN07-0626, on Pulsar 150-MN04-B3319 and a Yamaha Fascino without registration number.

Imphal, 15 May 2016 ( Evening News) :  Three active cadres of Kuki National Front (KNF) Douthanglen group including a woman cadre were arrested by police during an operation led by Additional SP (Operation), Th. Bikramjit DySP, Sachidananda, and Officer-in-Charge Potsangbam Sanjoy of Imphal West Commando. They were arrested on the 13th of this month during a search operation at New Checkon, Nongpok Engkhol in Imphal East. The arrested cadres are identified as  Lunliansiam Vaiphei, 21 years, son of Letzathang Vaiphei, Tingngaineng Vaiphei wife of lateThanglalian Vaiphei alias Avi Vaiphei, and Let-khogin Vaiphei alias Agin son of late Nekthang Vaiphei Meeoi. All of them are from Salam Patong Village in Senapati District. Police have recovered Rs 4 lakh 47 thousand, 4 demand letters of KNF (Democrats) and 4 mobile phones from the arrested cadres. Preliminary enquiries revealed that the three cadres were involved in the abduction of PRO of Singhat MLA and driver of a JCB from Churchandpur and collected ransom for their release.
