Manipur Government has finally followed the footsteps of CBSE and other boards in cancelling this year's board examinations. State Education Minister Sorokhaibam Rajen on Wednesday announced the government's decison to cancel the class 10 examination conducted by Board of Secondary Education Manipur, BOSEM and class 11 & 12 examinations conducted by Council of Higher Education Manipur for this year owing to the prevailing second wave of coronavirus pandemic in the State which has taken a toll of above one thousand so far.
Speaking to journalists at his Old Secretariat Office in Babupara today, Education Minister S. Rajen appealed to students not to be disheartened but to continue the pursuit of education. Impact News recieved mixed reactions from students and guardians regarding the cancellation of the examinations. Overall, most agreed that health is more important than anything else in the wake of the prevailing pandemic for which experts are still finding a guaranteed cure.
Meanwhile, State government has formed a committee of 14 members including the Chairman, Secretary, Controller of Examinations of BOSEM, COHSEM and Government School principals headed by Commissioner of Education (S) to come up with evaluation criteria to promote the students to the next standard. The Committee's report is expected in the near future.
