Prime Minister Modi assures Union Government's assistance to Chief Ministers from flood-affected States
Imphal, 17 June 2018 ( evening News ) : Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said, schemes like Mudra Yojana, Jan Dhan Yojana and Stand Up India are helping in greater financial inclusion. In his opening remarks at fourth meeting of Governing Council of NITI Aayog at Rashtrapati Bhawan today, Modi emphasised on the need of tackling economic imbalances on priority basis. He said, 1.5 lakh Health and Wellness Centres are being constructed under Ayushman Bharat and about 10 crore families will be provided health insurance worth 5 lakh rupees every year. The Prime Minister said, Indian Economy has grown at a healthy rate of 7.7 percent in the fourth quarter of 2017- 18. He said, the challenge now is to take this growth rate to double digits for which many more important steps have to be taken. Modi said, vision of a New India by 2022, is now a resolve of the people of the country. He said, the agenda of the meeting include doubling of farmers income, development of aspirational districts, Ayushman Bharat, Mission Indradhanush, Nutrition Mission and celebrations of the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. The Prime Minister assured the Chief Ministers from flood-affected States that the Union Government would provide all assistance to them.
Union Home Minister has directed the Home Secretary to provide immediate help for the flood affected people : CM Biren
Imphal, 17 June 2018 ( Evening News ) : Chief Minister N. Biren visited Maiba village and Mongjam Village of Imphal East District to take stock of the flood situation today. The Chief Minister also inspected the Flood Relief Camps which are being opened at Maiba Khul Primary School and Mongjam Mamang Leikai. Briefing media persons, Chief Minister informed that he had a telephonic conversation with Union Home Minister Rajnath and briefed about the current flood situation in the State. He added that he had asked the Home Minister to extend immediate flood assistance for the flood victims of the State. The Chief Minister also intimated that the State government has asked for immediate financial assistance for rebuilding the houses of the flood affected people, repair and reconstruction of roads etc. immediately. He said that the Union Home Minister has already directed the Home Secretary to provide immediate help for the flood affected people of the State. Mentioning that he couldn’t attend the NITI Aayog meeting due to the current flash flood in the State,he added that the flood situation of the State is being discussed in the said meeting. The Chief Minister mentioned that around 22 houses have been inundated and 120 people have been displaced due to the flood in the Maiba Khul and Mongjam Village, Imphal East District and that the District Administration has taken various measures to help the flood victims in the area and medical teams are being sent to the flood affected areas. Biren also asserted Portable toilets would be constructed in Maiba Khul and Mongjam Village. The Chief also expressed his gratitude to Minister Karam Shyam, MLA Susindro, Army personnel, newly recruited police personnel for their relentless effort and dedication in repair works of the breached river banks. He also appealed to the people of the State to take precautionary measures from post flood diseases.
