First ever e-Cabinet held in Imphal, i-pads provided to Chief Minister and his cabinet colleagues
Imphal, 13 October 2016 ( Evening News ) : e-Cabinet was used for the first time in Manipur at the Cabinet Meeting held yesterday. Cabinet meetings traditionally require about 20 sets of Cabinet Memorandums which typically will have a number of Annexures. A Cabinet Memorandum, on the average consists of about 15-20 pages which multiplies to about 400 pages of printed material. With the e-Cabinet Application, the Cabinet Memorandums with all the annexures are digitally uploaded onto the e-Cabinet Application and can be accessed by the Cabinet Department and the Cabinet Ministers through the Internet. i-pads were provided to the Chief Minister and other ministers to conduct Cabinet Meetings in the electronic/digital mode. The Application is designed and developed in-house by Department of Information Technology, Manipur and is of the first initiatives in Government of Manipur to utilise IT and e-Governance in an effective manner at the highest level of decision making authority.
Chief Minister Okram Ibobi yesterday released Manipur Culture Policy and 3 Gazetteers namely the Gazetteer of Manipur, Gazetteer of Ukhrul and Gazetteer of Churachandpur at the Cabinet Hall of CM’s Secretariat. The policy proposes to form a powerful body called Manipur Cultural Advisory Board comprising of 30 members of experts and eminent personalities in various fields of culture out of which 20 members are to be elected by the recognised cultural institutions/organisations in the state and 10 members to be nominated by the Government to render more autonomy and avoidance of direct involvement of Government in the fulfilment of the objective of the policy. The culture policy will be reviewed every 10 years. Dy. chief minister Gaikhangam and other cabinet ministers, Chief Secretary O. Nabakishore, Commissioner Art & Culture K. Radhakumar, Director art & Culture K. Sushila and Director IPR Meghachandra Kongbam were among those who attended the function.
BJP insists sports university will be constructed in Koutruk, not in Yaithibi Loukon
Imphal, 13 October 2016 ( Evening News ) : BJP Manipur today categorically stated that it will not allow the Sports university to be established in Yaithibi Loukon. The party insisted that it will be set up in Koutruk. Convener of BJP Manipur Pradesh state election monitoring cell, Thounaojam Chaoba announced the party's decision while speaking at one day Political Conference organised by 21- Naoriya Pakhang Lakpa BJP Mandal at Langthabal Phuramakhong. Chaoba said when the people are fighting to protect the agricultural lands the State government's decision to set up Sports University in Yaithibi Loukol will only lead to corruption. He said it is unfortunate that the govt ignored the offer of the people of Koutruk. Taking part in the political conference Thangmeiband MLA Kh. Joykisan alleged that the government is backing the drug traffickers in the state threatening the future of the youth. He said the govt transferred Police officer who seized drugs. Aspiring candidates from Naoriya Pakhanglakpa, Malesh, Manoranjan and Sobha also attended the conference.
