Manipur joins the nation in observing the 8th National Voters Day

Imphal, 25 January 2018 ( Evening News ) : As observed across the country, National Voters Day was observed in Manipur for enhanced participation of citizens especially the youth in the electoral process, today.  Chief Electoral Officer, Manipur organised the observance at GM Hall, today. Speaking at the event, Chief Secretary, Rajani Ranjan Rashmi asserted that the election commission is older than our constitution. RR Rashmi stated that election is a process where every voter counts and called on the young voters to take pride and have a sense of importance in the electoral process. The Chief Secretary led the youth at the event in taking National Voters Day's pledge. An Electoral Literary Club was also launched as part of the observance. EPIC Cards were distributed to the young voters at the event.  Winners of State Level National Election Quiz, Essay, Painting competition were also felicitated at the event.

The National Voters Day was also observed by State Election Department at Kuranga-yani Hall in Imphal West DC Complex, today. DC Imphal West, N. Geoffery and many young voters of Imphal West took part at the event. EPIC voter cards were distributed to the young voters at the observance held on the theme 'Accessible Election'. Winners of quiz, essay and painting competition held in connection with elections few years ago were also felicitated at the event. The young voters were also administered national voters day pledge by the Deputy Commissioner at the event.
